You misspelled “to be”

If they truly deserved a shot they wouldn't have run away from the chance to play Florida.

If they beat LSU, that would move them up to about 10th in the nation.
IF LSU loses to them, then:

Thanks again, Auburn! You should have nipped this in the bud, but shite the bed instead.

The question is, whose place should they take? Oklahoma's? Notre Dames? Alabama's? Clemson's?
and if they went to 8 with Auto bid for Conference Champions, should they take Georgia's spot? Michigans? Notre Dames?
I mean until they play someone with a pulse they should be happy with a NY6 Bowl. You have to remember this is a team that 3 years ago with 0-12 and actually played at least 1 Power 5 team.

Yeah, a shot in a NIT like playoff situation...
No program should be rewarded for playing a schedule where a 1/3 of college football would go undefeated playing. You reward all that, and we'll witness a race to the bottom of the scheduling hill. But who could blame power 5 conferences for softening up schedules if undefeated is all that matters. To think, the 4 team playoff was to encourage tougher scheduling and I agree with that thinking. Winning games, that can be risky, should be rewarded when it comes time to pick 4 playoff teams. Lastly, if we get anymore playoff teams added, the regular season will mean even less afterwards.

A shot at what? Why do they deserve said shot?

When the toughest game on your schedule is 7-5 Pitt or 8-4 Memphis, you don’t deserve a shot
