It’s also called Crime Bluff…

It’s sad what’s happened to that town. Like a mini Detroit now

My grandfather had his first medical clinic downtown pine bluff when he got his PhD and MD. I still have a cedar chest made from his office desk at that clinic. His father in law was CEO of Riceland in Stuttgart who built that company into the Co-op of over 55,000 rice farmers. He also invented the gin dryer fan. He basically set the price of rice in the U.S. for decades and is in the agricultural hall of fame. Family has a lot of history in that region

More reason to be excited about our season than we’ve had in a long long long long time

Do you think Pittman will survive the season? I had just assumed he’ll get fired.

Yeah, Pine Bluff is sort of stuck in the same situation the rest of the Arkansas Delta is in. People move out not in, and the money in the state isn't going there. If they had an economy worth a darn it would be a nice place to live, especially if you like hunting and fishing.

My dad’s company did a lot of the work on their recent downtown renovations. Did a lot of the work on the new casino there too. It was cool while we were working with the demo guys before the real construction started, there was a layer of original fire baked red bricks that they used as road coverage during the horse & buggy days under the pavement they were tearing up to design the new curb & gutter. There was piles of those bricks as they tore them up, kept a few for our office. The downtown was really pretty back in the day, now the renovations were just lipstick on a pig.

People move out not in,

I can vouch for that as someone who grew up in Wynne in the 80's. Would never want to have grown up anywhere else but there is very little opportunity there now. Used to at least be some decent manufacturing jobs there until NAFTA and such.
