Yep, may need a good dose of +18 then.

No hell they won’t. They haven’t beaten anybody worth a shite. They are a good G5 team. They had to go to OT to beat USM last night. A&M by at least 24 or more.

Big UAB fan & alum here. We aren't going to beat Texas A&M. Our QB play is too shoddy.

Haven't been able to watch as many UAB games as I'd have liked since they've mostly played on beIN which got dropped by DirecTV right before the season.
But from what I've been able to see, I like Tyler Johnston a whole lot better than Erdely. Erdely is the definition of pedestrian, he's not bad but there's not a single that stands out about him other than his sweet stache.
I know Johnston threw a couple of interceptions last night and one nearly cost the game. He seems to be a real spark plug though that's breathed some life into the offense. He's a threat to make a big play and Erdely wasn't. He's going to be a very good QB in his career who just needs to work on ball security, but what freshman QB doesn't?

As a UAB alum, I certainly hope this will happen. However, I don't think we match up well with A&M. Our strength is our running game. Spencer Brown is a stud! The Aggies stop the run very well but are prone to give up the big pass play. While our passing game has improved with Tyler Johnston III taking over for our injured QB, AJ Erdely, he takes a lot of risks and had three interceptions last night against Southern Miss. The only way we make it a game is if we get some turnovers and convert them into touchdowns. Although, we do have an excellent kicker in Vogel that could help us convert some points if we can get into A&M territory. Our defense has played very well this year but in all seriousness, most of the C-USA teams we've played his year are terrible. Not sure our D will be strong enough to hold A&M for four quarters.
What Bill Clark has done had UAB has been nothing short of extraordinary and I believe he will receive plenty of big time offers after the season is over. Coach Clark does have emotional ties to UAB but I'm not sure it's enough to keep him there long term. Especially, since other schools can offer him way more money. He said his goal is to follow the Boise State model. Personally, I don't think UAB achieves Boise St. status unless we pull off a big win like beating an A&M but also, unless we get into the AAC. Honestly, I don't see Bill Clark staying at UAB unless we can get into the AAC.
I'm heading to College Station to watch my Blazers this weekend. I'm going to the Midnight Yell and the Bonfire Memorial while I'm there. Aggies, anything else you recommend I see or do while I'm there? I was told to go to the Dixie Chicken and hit up some of the bars on Northgate after the game. Any other bars or restaurants ya'll recommend?

UAB should be in the AAC
This is the only way we ever get a loyal fanbase and maintain the momentum we've started. It's hard to sell fans games against Charlotte, UTEP, UTSA, etc. Additionally, we are historical rivals with Memphis and would play for the "Battle of the Bones" trophy. Moving to the AAC just makes sense not only in football but also for our basketball program.

You're probably right. C-USA sucks something awful this year. However, I'm still hoping we show up and at least make a good game out of it.

They have shite for facilities, stadium, resources and fan base, but they bring it.
This could not be more wrong. UAB and the city of Birmingham have invested an assload of money into improving facilities and we get a new stadium downtown in 2021. The new football complex is gorgeous! All we need now is a move to the AAC and you will see the fan base dramatically improve. They are even saying they will be playing Auburn and Alabama games live in the new stadium so UAB(Bama/Auburn) fans won't miss any of their other favorite team's action.

Hey Bowl,
I’ve noticed you’ve responded to several UAB threads and started one as well.
Just curious ... what’s your connection with the university?

I'm a UAB alum and I have to agree with you. A&M is solid against the run and that is what we do best. Our passing game is suspect even though we have two solid receivers in Kailon Carter and Xavier Ubosi. Tyler Johnston III is just too inexperienced at this point if he gets the start again for Erdely. Erdely's shoulder is probably not well enough for him to put much zip on the ball even if he does play. My only hope is that we get Mond to make some mistakes against our D and that we can convert. I'll be in College Station rooting on the GREEN & GOLD!! Blaze On!!

I've been to every home game and you are completely right about Erdely. His experience is the only reason he was starting. Johnston is the real deal but lacks experience. He will make some exciting plays against A&M but he will also make some rookie mistakes. I think our D should be good enough to hold them off early in the game but not all four quarters. We MUST capitalize on any of A&M's mistakes if we are to even have a chance. I love this team and what Bill Clark has done, but A&M just has so much more depth than us. I see us playing good for three quarters before A&M blows the game open.

If it wasn't for Bear Jr and the Bama BOT sabotaging UAB and their athletics then they probably would be right now. It wasn't that long ago that their CUSA rivals included teams like Louisville, Memphis, Cincinnati but they all left UAB in the dust as did many other schools who came and went through CUSA.

Thanks man! I’m a Bama/UAB alum but my schedule never worked out where I could see Bama play in College Station. My schedule works out where I can see my Blazers play at Kyle Field and I’m super pumped! I just hope we make a good game out of it.

I’m going to the Midnight Yell on Friday night and the Bonfire Memorial. I’ve also heard I need to go by the Dixie Chicken and hit the bars on Northgate. Anything I missed? What’s a good bar to catch after the game? I’m 42 years old btw. Thanks!

Birmingham native who began attending UAB games in the mid 90s, not long after the programs inception, when they were giving away free tickets in my elementary school gym class just to promote the program. Parent and sibling with a degree from there.
I'm sure plenty can vouch that I've been vocally supportive of UAB on this board long before it became cool this season.
