All the black bears were stirring, even the nutria

With prose like this, it's no wonder your school has to search out of state to find the smart ones. On and off the field.

Damn, missed opportunity for weaving in an LSU/Lane Kiffin pun here

Baw... baw no, that ain't how you do it
At least make a stanza, and you HAVE to at least stick to the original rhyme scheme and meter.
This is just butchery.
Something like
Twas the night before Oxford,
And all through the Grove,
Violent passions were burning,
Like an old wooden stove,
And Stankey had warned,
LSU to beware,
For he knew Daddy Kiffin,
Very soon would be there...

Twas The Night Before Kiffin
You want to keep the spirit and scheme of the original when you rework it.
