Figured I'd start a legitimate thread with a legitimate news source, instead of a fabricated piece of click bait from an Auburn fan trying to trash up the board.

Alabama is reportedly set to name a new athletic director.

Arizona athletic director and former Mississippi State athletic director Greg Byrne will reportedly replace Bill Battle as the Crimson Tide's athletic director, according to the Arizona Daily Star's Greg Hanson. An announcement could come as early as Monday.

Battle was diagnosed with multiple myeloma last March and was forced to take an indefinite leave of absence from his post this summer. The Alabama alumnus was, however, able to return to Tuscaloosa before the start of the Tide's 2016-17 football season.

According to The Tuscaloosa News, Battle is expected to step down as athletic director when his contract expires in March. The former Tide player and college coach could remain within the athletic department in an advisory role, per The Tuscaloosa News.

Byrne, 45, joined the Arizona athletics department in May of 2010 after serving as athletic director at Mississippi State and the associate athletic director at both Oregon State and Kentucky. Several outlets have now reported Byrne will be hired by UA.

I hate when people say this shite. If a SEC team changes its AD, I want to know the fans' thoughts without checking every team forum

Excellent hire in Byrne. UF tried to get him when searching for ADs and he rebuffed UF's offers.

He inherits as stable of a coaching situation as possible. Not one hire needs to be made.

Is Byrne going to fit in over there? He's an outsider.

Sorry about Battle's health problems but he was never the long term solution post Moore. Maybe we will have an AD that focuses on all UA athletics, not just football

I don't know. He made great hires for both men's and women's basketball. He also oversaw a pretty sweet renovation of the baseball stadium. Not bad work for a guy who was always known to be a temporary fix after Mal died.

lol what more do you want?

Your non revenue sports are doing very well. Football is killing it. You brought in a former NBA coach, and you made a very solid baseball hire.
