I've also from just listening to him over the years thought Saban probably leans slightly left.

There's an epiphany waiting to happen. Hopefully, you'll find that moment.

I'm surprised you read that, too, since it's unequivocally false.
we live in a world where people are working hard to find a way to be offended and; even better, to find a way to claim "victimhood" status
I thought that it was pretty well known that Saban, at a minimum, was left leaning politically
so why not be a strong advocate in an election???
schools with big time athletics live & die based on donations; even a school like Alabama with all the success they have had
why would Saban get aggressive about an election? odds are, that would offend a big donor & dry up funds
I would actually think that would violate his duty to the school...

I'm not an Alabama resident but I can tell you this much No one gives a shite if you respect them or not get over yourself. You're not that important and neither is your shitty opinions.

I would put heavy money on him growing up that way.

What a great editorial response to the knucklehead from New York. I am sure that whether people voted for Jones or Moore, they had their own reasons, and didn't need Saban jumping in to tell them what those should be.

Coach Saban is a Democrat.

You didn’t read that.

Don't know if it is true or not, however Saban is a devout Catholic and they are pretty staunch about the sanctity of life and being anti-abortion. If he did support Moore, it is not really surprising.
as a pro-Life Catholic I can assure you that many of us did not vote for Roy Moore.

Ditto. Pro-life Catholic here who would have never considered voting for Moore.
And no one knows if Saban is a Dem or Republican. That’s on purpose.

Pretty sure this is the case. Seem to remember him actually saying a thing or two in regards to supporting Obama back in the day, albeit mildly. Does anyone else remember this?

List of things Nick Saban is paid to do as HFC at Alabama:
1. Win championships
2. Help his players reach their potential
3. Represent UA in a 1st class manner

. It just took a long time to get over hating Lincoln before the South could vote GOP again.

The context around that statement was him explaining to his players the importance of never sleeping with anyone who has something to gain out of it or has less to lose than you do. Obviously some pretty solid advice for a group of young men constantly surrounded by attention seeking individuals of the opposite sex.

Actually, all it took was Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson convincing the ignorant masses in the South that in order to be a Christian, you have to vote Republican. That happened back around 1980. Abortion is simply the battle cry that gets brought up during election years.
Of course, as you can see by reading your own posts, it worked brilliantly, and there’s a large section of the southern population who refuse to vote Democrat because of that singular issue - even though Republicans have controlled the White House and Congress multiple times since Roe v. Wade and have done nothing about it.
They only seem to magically care about the issue when it’s time to get elected, and simpletons fall for it hook, line, and sinker every single time.
Low energy. Sad.

The South started voting GOP in 1964.

The race for the senate in Alabama was much like the Presidential race, Not much to pick from.

Not in a block on a yearly basis. Here’s the 1976 election map.
Look up the Christian Coalition and Moral Majority.
