Yeah I saw this board... most of it was because we all knew that all of our eggs were thrown in the Marshall basket with no plan B.

AJ fell in our laps and the more we researched AJ the more we fell in love with the idea... it's a perfect match in our opinion. He brings a far more exciting personality to the game than Marshall... he will be able to bring in better players than Marshall (does anybody know if GM can really recruit at this level?) AJ turns out to have actually traveled and consulted in AAU, he knows lots of coaches and players, who will be coming out the next few years... A&M fans know his impact, he helped them land a 5* and a 4*

So the recruiting knocks on him have now been dispelled and the "can he coach college basketball?" question... well that's just laughable. And my favorite.. "he's going to use Bama as a stepping stone back to the NBA" NONE of us care about that... it would mean that he was tearing it up at Bama and he'd leave us in a great situation.

Bama basketball is far from being in the dumps... it's a solid program right now... we just want to be great.

How many of the AJ sunshine pumping threads are we going to see before this stops? Its pretty obvious AJ has a few question marks..that's fact. He has NEVER coached college basketball, and the jury is still out on his X and o's. Anyone could have won with the talented teams he had in the NBA..hell they would of won without having a coach.

To say he is a better hire than Marshal is insane. Can I have some of that acid you're tripping on bro? AJ may end up being very good, but at this point it's just an unknown. So if he turns out to be great then fly around like tinker bell spraying fairy dust everywhere..be my guest. Until then accept the fact that your coach is an unknown in college basketball and quit the sunshine pumping. I know it's hard but you can do it.

Yea, an animal with no experience who has been collecting unemoyment for nearly 3 years.

Jk

It's a good hire, but you went full tard saying it's a better hire than Marshall. Marshall will end up at a blue blood school. He's a top 10 college coach right now. I get the optimism. But you've taken it to another level.

It was the last sentence that warranted the down votes. Those were earned.

Basketball has always been my #1 sport and this is a very good hire for any program looking to upgrade their roster. This is a different type of hire than what Marshall would have been, but not necessarily a worse hire, just different.

I religiously follow bball and coach it and anyone actually complaining (and it is mainly Auburn fans - similar to what Bama fans have been doing with Pearl) that this is a bad hire, doesn't know or do basketball.

What's funny is all these trolls saying all he did was coach professional basketball players but can he handle the battleground that is college basketball? When has anyone wondered if a pro coach could coach in college?

What was Pearl doing when the Aubs hired him?
What's Howland been doing?

AJ has been active in the AAU environment for several years. Has many good contacts in that arena plus has connections in the NBA that he can lean on when its time to impress potential one and done kids. He's by no means a slam dunk, but to say he's been unemployeed while working ESPN's basketball coverage is a stretch.
