Tua is more of an unknown quantity imo.
We’ve seen exactly one half of football out of him. He has immense potential as evidenced from his NATTY winning throw but only a play before he showed horrible judgement in taking a huge loss on that sack.
He has a very high ceiling but he could see more bumps in the road along the way.

He's looked impressive in everything we've seen but we haven't seen him in near enough for him to be a guarantee like Bama fans think he is.

Maybe you're being sarcastic and I didnt catch it ?
Can you imagine a more pressure filled situation ?

Like.........the national championship game?

He earned some respect. But Bama fans have blown it out of proportion. He essentially played one half of football with zero pressure. Yes it was the National Championship but he's a freshman coming in while they're getting blown out. There's no expectations in that situation.
He had a ton of pressure. He is the QB at ALABAMA and whether you are 1st or 2nd string, there is always pressure to win because you are expected to win no matter what. What gives me confidence in Tua besides the fact that he can throw, he thrives under pressure.
To the original question, I don't think Tua or Stidham will disappoint their respective fan bases. I do think Fromm will and the UGA fans will be hollering for Fields.

quote:Pressure and intensity are 2 different things. He played in an intense situation at the end of the game but when he came in he had no pressure on him. Saban threw him in lose or be the hero because nothing else was working. Had he lost, the loss would have been blamed on Hurts and Tua knew that mentally. That takes the pressure off him.
Can you imagine a more pressure filled situation ?
Had he came in with Bama winning and UGA started coming back then he would have been playing under pressure. It's no different than backups coming in after the game is basically over. The winning team will feel pressure to keep winning a little (depending on the margin) (UGA's position) but the losing team (Tua's position) is just trying to be heros and pull an upset or lose like they were when they came in.

No different than backups coming in when the game is over? That’s absurd

When back ups come in in a game a team is losing, who do they blame? The starters. Had Bama never came back and won Tua would have had to play awful for him to get any blame. Hurts would have been blamed or the OC. Tua knew this and that took away the worry of the consequences of losing (which is what pressure is).
He would still be in it to start this year. That's the exact same as the no pressure situation the backups come in in (especially if the team is already losing).

Tua. People forget how close he came to losing that game before he won it. The guy is high-risk, high-reward. Kind of like how a home run hitter strikes out a lot.
I'm not sure if Tua will disappoint. But I'm not ready to make him the Heisman favorite after one half of football. I'm not lying, Bovada has him tied for first in their Heisman odds.

Obviously, Tua is way way waaaay more talented but I liken to Jordan Jefferson relieving Jarrett Lee in the 2011 game of the century. Bama's game plan was built around Lee and they shut him down. Jefferson came in and offered something different and did just enough to win. When LSU tried to do the same damn thing in the title game, Bama shut it down with ease.
UGA was ready for Hurts and executed that plan. Tua was a wild card. I want to see how he looks when defenses plan around him, when there's a good amount of film on him to find weaknesses.

People forget how he almost won the game in regulation before ever going to overtime and getting that sack you're talking about.
