Of course, the media is hyping this guy just like they did Tua after his second half against UGA last year, but when you look at his performance in the title game, so much of his passes were either circus catches or guys being very wide open. I don't remember seeing him either under duress or hitting really tight windows. Maybe his best pass was that last TD pass from 5 yards out which he fit in a pretty small window to a guy who was double covered, but he wasn't doing that all night.

I'm not trying to shite on the guy, but why does the media always have to anoint the next great thing. He is a nice QB that had a nice game in the championship against a Bama D that was quite obviously not playing at its usual elite level, neither in the secondary nor up front. Bama did OK against the run early, but they weren't getting much if any pressure on Lawrence at all.

And, he had a nice season, but what elite defenses did they play. Perhaps the best D they played all year before Monday night was A&M, and they did a good job of shutting him down.

Just trying to keep it real.

Sounds like you're saying he's an accurate passer making the right reads.

Isn't that what elite qbs do?

Tua went 14-1 this year. Lawrence is a phenom and is going to win a lot of games and Championships at Clemson.

Yes Trevor Lawrence has only played one half of football in his collegiate career

Clemson wasn’t doing anything special from the looks of it, misdirection on the outside runs & attacking the boundary corners.

Where did I say that? The biggest difference in this game was the defenses, not the QBs. That's my point. Clemson's D played lights out, Bama's did not. Clemson's front got pressure, and their secondary befuddled Tua. Bama's D was not able to create any of the same kind of havoc for Lawrence. My point is that, if Bama had, Lawrence would have looked much more ordinary.

He completed several passes with a defender one step from blasting him.

He barely played in that game, and he was 5 of 9 for 93 yards and a TD.

He turned 19 in October...so, he will probably get better.

He is 6'6...he will not get any shorter

He was playing against a pretty good defense, and still lit them up by throwing balls where only his guys could get to them.

It was week 2...he wasn't the starter...he was part of a planned rotation...he wasn't named the starter for another 3 weeks.

Clemson blitzed and changed up their rush pkgs. brought 5-6 on most plays.

Bama tried to get pressure with a 4 man rush and play 6-7 in coverage. It bit them in the arse cause they couldn't get pressure with 4 and Lawrence lit them up in the secondary.

You didn't see his TD pass to Higgins?

They played A&M really early. I would be willing to say he's probably a different player now than he was then

And both are outstanding QB's, and from what I have read down to earth good, level headed kids.

Alabama and Clemson have a couple of great QB's. Kudos to them.
