In a dead heat for the worst developments in college football in a long time.

Nah, I love it. Great of the students.

After watching all of these coaches just dip on their teams this season - why shouldn't the players get to? Also - look at these deals the coaches are signing too..

Dude…A&M is benefitting the most out of anyone from NIL

Even if that’s true doesn’t mean NIL in its current form is a good idea. It’s a runaway train IMO.

Players were getting paid under the table. Now at least it is in the light and they are taxed on it. They were getting paid regardless.

These "students" are getting something for free in exchange for them playing for a university that many people can not afford. They get free food, housing, very expensive tuition, medical care and many other benefits so them being paid or taking sponsorship (NIL) money makes no sense. If they would take advantage of the gift of going to college for free and get a degree and use that opportunity to better themselves with something other than athletics they would be better for it. But people saying that they are not getting anything for playing sports in college are lost. They are getting so so much that most people don't get and most other students don't get as well. NIL and transfer rules are ruining college sports and amateur athletics to a degree.

I bet you are older than 50. I don't disagree but College Football jumped that shark years ago. Too much money involved for schools and coaches for kids to get "an education" and they only are there to make the NFL. If that is the football you want, you would love the FCS.

12 team playoff is waiting to say "Hold My Beer"

I am 48 but it doesn't matter what age I am, its a matter of they are being gifted so much. It is their fault if they are disillusioned that they are going to the NFL as most all Division 1 Players do not make the NFL or even the Canadian League for that matter, same as FCS where I played, it is entirely their fault if they don't use the gift of free education to its fullest. They need to be self-aware, them and their defenders need to stop with the "oh woah is me" schtick, they are getting things that a poor kid with no athletic ability, who would love to go to college would die for. I love football and sports but as you said college sports jumped the shark a long time ago, as much as I love college sports they are also their biggest enemy.

Age has zero to do with it.
On another note, entitlements are hard to cut, much less take away. IMO, NIL went too far from the get-go. It’s going to be chaos and wall to wall mudslinging from here on out (at least a lot more).

I would cast a vote for the (way too) early signing period.
I think it's intensifying a lot of this coaching circus and transfer bullshite.

A guy with a Dale Murphy nickname and Vince Dooley picture calling somebody else a boomer. That’s funny.

Age is irrelevant. NIL is going to transform college sports into leagues competing with the NFL, NBA, MLB, etc.
I could easily see college athletics becoming a licensed arrangement with the school and the athletic departments as for-profit entities. European clubs with league promotion and relegation could reasonably be the future model.

All to try to beat Saban. Why not do better on the field instead?
FWIW though, for the players' sake, I am glad for TP and NIL.

Agree. I do see a couple of possibilities. Affluent schools use the NIL to stockpile even more of the bluechippers leading to even less pt for a chunk of the roster. After sitting a season or two they head for the portal for less or even no money. I also expect locker room dissent to increase.
I understand that the NCAA was making bank of these guys and I don't believe that was fair or even ethical. However, in the interest of fairness, which is a joke for sure, the NCAA should have opened the draft up to highschool grads, told them to hit it if they are that damn good and quit using individual players names and images for profit. The players that choose the college route should be paid uniformly and required to abide by amateur rules
