We haven't even mentioned RSFr Brockers in this thread either... a lot of young talent playing big roles at LSU this year

Curse you TN for taking out Sam Montgomery

Justin Hunter burned Mathieu in the LSU-UT game.
That was excellent coverage. Simms threw a great ball on that one. Sometimes you just have to tip your hat and play the next down.

Mathieu is good, but he isn't the god LSU fans perceive him to be.
He has an INT and 3 forced fumbles. He isn't a starter either. I havent seen a DB turn to create as many TOs as he does before.

Didn't he recover two as well? He also has like what 3 or 4 sacks?
There isn't a freshman DB doing more for his team than Tyrann.

Yes he has. I was very worried about our CB corps after Peterson leaves, now, not so much. Mathieu and Claiborne will be as good if not better than Jackson/Zenon were for us.

Yeah, our DB's will be a strong corp for some time.

I would replace Dyer for Lattimore.
Of course you would. Everyone NOT an Auburn fan is going

Unfortunately Sam Montgomery is out for the season but he was playing very very well prior to going down and starting for us, which is saying something considering we didn't lose our ends this year.
Mathieu is the best true freshman LSU has had in quite some time. His play against Florida where he blitzed, turned and chased down the play, forced the fumble, and then recovered it, was ridiculous.

Hunter's a tad bit better than just average.

Hunter will LOOK a lot better once Tennessee gets an OL and a real QB.
I still have nightmares about us losing Hunter and Mike Davis from this last class. What a sick combo they would of been at LSU. Imagine them with Mettenberger in the future...

mosley will be great before he leaves Alabama, but right now I wouldn't call him solid (yes I know it's impressive he is even on the field right now). There was a point in the game Saturday his name got called about four times in a row and it wasn't for making tackles
Yeah, Mosley got picked on pretty bad by the USCe offense on saturday.

wow hunter caught 1 pass on mathieu and now tm is not that good. considering that hunter was the high jump champion in hs and has a 7 inch height advantage to begin with i would be concerned if he didn't catch that pass. but seriously, tm is a turnover machine and i love the feeling of seeing 14 on the field.

TM is really damn good. Him and Lattimore are definitely the two best true freshmen.

I think the throw to Hunter was better than the actual catch. Mathieu had good coverage just didn't get his head around quite fast enough to make a play on the ball and whiffed on it. Haven't heard Hunter's name at any other point this year. Mathieu, on the otherhand, has made big plays in almost every game this year.

Tyrann Mathieu has 23 tackles, 3 TFL, 2.5 sacks, 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery, and 3 forced fumbles. Kid is a beast.

UGA was the first game where Hunter played more than 6 or 7 downs.
Every time he's been on the field he's made something happen. He'll be our primary target, ahead of Jones and Moore, by the end of the year.
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he finished with 750+ yards and a handful of touchdowns this season.
He had 110 yards and a touchdown, in a terribly anemic offense this weekend.
Simms is a good QB, a lot better than opposing fans are giving him credit for. His problem is he has 3 true freshman starting on the O Line in front of him. He has literally been under more pressure than any other QB in the country.

I never said Mathieu wasn't good, I said he's not the best Freshman in the SEC
