Considering how much we win, maybe LSU should try and do the same

What? LSU has lower lows and many more of them. Their highs are very high but Ohio State is in the hunt for payoff berths much more othen than LSU.

LSU hasn't won less than 8 games in a season since 1999. Weren't Tressel's first two seasons pretty mediocre?
Posted on 5/3/20 at 12:00 pm to Mithridates6
Tressel was 7-5 his first year. The second year he was 14-0 so no.
ETA: LSU has also lost 3 or more games 12 times in the past 20 years. Their highs are very high but they are not the most consistent. They have four 4 loss seasons and three 5 loss seasons this century.
Ohio State has three seasons with 4 or more losses and one was the Fickell year while the other two were in 2001 and 2003.

And you've had some shite seasons during the timeframe.

Well I know for sure yall were like 7-6 in 2011. 2012 would've definitely put yall at #2 easily, why did yall agree to a bowl ban for some ticky tack bs?

One. The Fickell year. Even including that year that have the highest winning percentage of all P5 schools. So no, shite seasons are few and far between.
Do you people look this stuff or or just determine it to be true in your minds instead of doing a little fact checking?

Yep, the Fickell year. He clearly wasn't ready for that job at that time.
I agree about 2012. It would have been Ohio State vs Notre Dame and Alabama would have been on the outside looking in. Most fans did not agree with the bowl ban that year. They felt it should have been taken the year before.

You have two seasons with under 8 wins in that time.
LSU has 0.
Your conference also has 0 championships besides yours.

It's really top 6 (in whatever order) and then a huge gap between #6 and #7
Bama
LSU
Florida
Ohio State
Southern Cal
Clemson
Case for #7?
Auburn - 3 SEC titles, 1 natty, played for another natty, the undefeated '04 team
Wisconsin - 3 straight Big Ten titles, lots of BCS/NY6 bowl games, but a very lackluster record in those games probably takes them out of consideration.
Georgia - 3 SEC titles, played for a natty. Gotta figure they're behind Auburn.
Florida State - 7 ACC titles, 9 BCS/NY6 Bowl games, 1 national title, played for another natty
Oregon - 7 Pac 12 titles, 8 BCS/NY6 Bowl games, played for 2 national titles
I'd say Florida State is #7.

Tressell even being fired was some bs, but it worked out great in hindsight with his offenses becoming stale and Meyer becoming available at the same time. I called Meyer to OSU in 2011, I think yalls job was always his goal

IIRC in his book, he said Ohio State and Notre Dame were his dream jobs.

Big 10 National Championships 2000-2019
Ohio State 2
SEC National Championships 2000-2019
Bama 5
LSU 3
Florida 2
Auburn 1
BTW, LSU has played EACH of those teams EVERY SINGLE year. Replace Florida, Bama and Auburn with Michigan, Penn State and Wisconsin and LSU is going to "be in the hunt" a lot more too. I'm not disrespecting your league, which is a great league that plays great football at great venues, but besides your own excellent program exactly ZERO of them have been elite in this millennium.

I would like to know Ohio State's record vs SEC teams in this century.
Posted on 5/3/20 at 12:23 pm to SidewalkTiger
They lost to South Carolina in the early 2000s, then LSU and Florida in those BCS championship games. They beat Arkansas in a Sugar Bowl and Bama in the 2014 CFP semi
Posted on 5/3/20 at 12:24 pm to SidewalkTiger
They are 2-5 in bowl games against the SEC since 2000.
Posted on 5/3/20 at 12:31 pm to Mithridates6
Wait, they beat Bama in the semifinal?
