Alabama literally name checks the Bulldogs in their fight song, so it's kinda hard to say that it wasn't at least a rivalry at one point. Plus the two schools are the closest in proximity in the conference, only 80 miles apart

Lol MSU is just that school that no one calls a rival. Ole Miss fans have to deal with harassment as MSU fans try to make OM a rival. It’s very sad lil bro syndrome.
Like lifting a leg to pee in the endzone after scoring what should have been the game tying TD?
Oh wait, an Ole Miss player did that.

Never even crossed my mind that they were referencing the Miss State Bulldogs. Always thought it meant the Georgia Bulldogs because the line is about the Yellow Jackets of Ga Tech.

at one time, Tennessee was 20-5 against LSU.
having only 5 wins against UT was unbelievable for me.

To State's credit, I don't believe MSU-Alabama is a rivalry either.
The only reason it was really ever considered a "rivalry" is proximity - they're the two schools closest to each other in the SEC. 82 miles, pretty much straight down hwy 82.

OXFORD, Miss. – Mississippi has been fined $5,000 by the Southeastern Conference after "fans entered the competition area" following the football team's 41-24 victory over No. 25 Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl on Saturday.
Fans rushed the field after Ole Miss' victory over the Bulldogs. The win snapped the school's three-game losing streak in the Egg Bowl and also made the Rebels bowl eligible for the first time since 2009.

That and we play them just about every year. They are one of our longest running SEC foes.
