It it time to start having the conversation that this years BaseVols team may actually be better than last years National Title team?

So they have 5 top 100 prospects for this years draft, struggled all year, and are “young.” Your math ain’t mathing bud

Yes!
Kilen- Transferred in (Junior)
Fischer- Transferred in (Junior)
Doyle- Transferred in (Junior) 1st year starter.
Phillips- Junior 1st year starter
Curley- Sophomore (draft eligible)

Now let’s take a look at the rest of the guys that played significant time.
Ensley- Senior
Clark- Freshman
Abernathy- Freshman
Marin- Freshman
Antigua- Sophomore
Peebles- Junior
Newstrom- Freshman
Grimmer- Freshman
Chapman- Junior
Bargo- Junior
Lawless- Freshman

Pitchers:
Snead- Junior
Arvidson- Sophomore
Doyle- Junior
Russell- Junior (returning from injury)
Krenzel- Freshman
Kuhns- Freshman
Loy- Sophomore
Franklin- Junior

While the talent is there, a lot of these guys are first year starters.

first year starters.

So were Paul Skenes and Tommy White in 2023. That didn’t make that team “young.” Just stfu

Your first basemen had 20 HRs last year. Your second baseman was an AA last year. Your catcher is a thurd year player who transferred 2 years ago (huge bust). Your center fielder is a 5th year senior. Your left fielder is a third year player. Your shortstop is a third year player. Your right fielder is a third year player.

You can’t sign a team with a lot of starters from the portal and then call them “young.” They’re not young. They just haven’t been at Tennessee their whole career

Either you have a reading issue or comprehension issues

Do you know what the word “may” means? It sure doesn’t mean they are better. It means it’s possible and could be which falls in line with what I said.

No one here believes that. You were trying to talk shite and then you hid and now you're trying to crawfish.

What a bitch.

He is still a freshman last year and sophomore this year.

Your center fielder is a 5th year senior.

Maybe, but he’s not getting drafted very high. And yet he’s the only senior that plays.

3rd year players or not, most of these guys are 1st year starters.

LF- Bargo- 1st year starter
RF- Chapman- 1st year starter
C- Peebles- 1st year full time starter (split time last year).
DH- Clark- freshman (1st year starter)
SS/2nd- Kilen- great
2nd- Curley- sophomore
1st- Fischer- great
3rd- Marin- freshman
CF- Ensley- Freshman

5 players in this lineups at either freshman/1st year starters. Believe that classify as “young”. They have talent, no denying that. But they also have a lot of youth also.

Pitching-
Doyle- 1st year starter
Phillips- 1st year starter
Kuhns - Freshman
Arvidson- midweek guy
Snead- Junior
Russell- Junior (9 starts, 32 IP last 2 years total).

It’s a fact that this team has enough to win it all again if they play mistake free. But rather they can come together or not is still to be determined.

I said what I said! My exact words said “may be as good”. Didn’t say they was and if i did I’m sure you could find it. But this team isn’t to far off of last years team as far as wins and losses go.

Through 58 games:
2024 record- 47-11
2025 record- 45-13

Numbers don’t lie!

Best freshman in the country, per you

Doyle- 1st year starter

You compared him to Paul Skenes.

You also said Tennessee has the best team in the country and the best pitching staff in the country.

The crawfishing and excuse making now is really something to see!

At the time I made that statement he was. He was hitting like .485 and even experts at the time agreed he was the best freshman in the country. He hit a big slump once SEC play started and yet is still batting .340+.

quote:

You compared him to Paul Skenes.

He actually has a higher strike out rate that Skenes per 9 innings, that is still true.

What is also true is Skenes had better team around him. Also when I compared him to Skenes, he was dominating and that was none again early season.

Once again, the time I made this statement they did. They and the top ERA in the country and that’s a fact. Since then the Vols have struggled a little. But still doesn’t take away what they are capable of doing. The staff combined for 18 K’s today.

Pro tip - don't talk shite about how great your baseball team is until SEC play begins, because no one really knows until then. I'd like to think you learned your lesson this year, but I doubt it.

Welcome to college baseball. It’s pretty often not to have that many seniors playing. LSU only has two and both transferred in.

Tennessee plays again Saturday. Kentucky plays again when???
Once again, we await your answer.

Most people try to talk sports in a sports forum. Perhaps your childish trolling and board spamming would be more well received on one of the off topic sub-forums.

Congrats on the 11-19 conference record. Pretty typical for a preseason consensus #1 rated team. Impressive!!!

Skenes had a better team around him, yet you are the reigning national champions that’s not young at all. Try again, bruh.

Skenes had Dylan Crews and Tanks and Ty Floyd. The rest of the roster was filled with Louisiana natives that some of them weren’t very good until the championship year.

Do they have crawfish in Tennessee? Asking bc you seem to have gotten a hold of ALLLL of them.

Funny that a bitch sent your mediocre pitching freshman of the year home with an L! Y’all are not that good, just lucky the Vols made mistakes that helped yall stay in it. Yall fricking struck out 18 times.

You did? I didn't know you plated for Tennessee.

Your team needed the win and started their ace. Our team did not need the win and started someone no one had ever heard of. And you still barely won. Good luck working your way into hosting. That would be phenomenal for your team.

I think it’s safe to say at this point that Vitello has Schloss number

or that Schloss wasn't interested. I credit Texas for even showing up at Hoover. Long term - Vitello couldn't carry Schloss' water, and that will bear itself out soon enough.
