re: BPB baseball January 22nd

Whatever. You’re an arse and I stick by that. You were literally talking about Lach who is a sophomore just like Rizy. I’m gonna call Jay and get you a job since you’re the almighty, omnipotent, only right person about LSU baseball on this planet.

But the conversation was about which of the current freshmen would be sophomore eligible for the 2027 draft.

I really respect your baseball knowledge, but you sure come off extraordinarily condescending sometimes. It wasn’t your comment I replied to. We get it, you know a lot. No need to be a p rick.
I believe Rizy is already 21. He turns 22 in December

WBB rankings don’t really mean much, especially in January. Just from the eye test, Texas has a (much) better SOS than LSU and has beaten a few Elite 8/Final 4 projected teams already. I don’t agree that they shouldn’t have moved down at all, but these don’t really mean too much at the moment. Kim will have this team rolling by the SECT. Especially now that she has found our point guard.
While I don’t disagree… Why are you yelling? It’s 6 am. Breathe.

LSU baseball doesn’t lose money.

They most certainly do, nearly every year including when we won nattys. I haven’t missed a home game in almost a decade and I love college baseball probably more than is healthy, but it’s nowhere near the scope in popularity or TV funding that MBB gets.
It didn’t go belly up, understandably due to mediocrity, there was a lot of family stuff that happened. Gus got sicker and died, and Jordan and Anthony didn’t agree on how to proceed and they shut down next to HobbyLobby, game planned and came back bigger and better at Perkins. It is absolutely packed almost always. You people will just speak to speak.
It’s well known in his circles that he does not infact like LSU, it’s just the best thing the state he governs has going for him. And this is from a JL voter and someone who was a huge fan. He’s getting a pass bc of the competence of the new athletic department in their hiring search. Bc he “pushed out” Kelly and SW. But don’t let that cloud how we got here. Yes it ended up well, but had LK changed his mind at the 11th hour, Landry would never be able to show face at an LSU event again. And it would have 100% affected his political career.
Ausberry and Rousse and Dalton deserve props, not this dude.

Two weeks seems like a while, how long after BK was hired did he do the basketball thing?

MBB is out of town for the next 2.5 weeks til the 19, and WBB til the 16, so he couldn’t be introduced at a home game any sooner…

We know. He never asked for that and it is was never a consideration.

Well why is everyone saying we have no money if that was never an option. Again, 800 a month from a billionaire is nothing. They pay that without even looking at the checking account.

Read the board, 85% of people on here think that’s the case. Saying That’s why we’re poor. You know a lot about LSU, Boosie and I respect your perspectives, so I know YOU can see it. But that doesn’t mean the imbeciles see it.

And no they’re not bad business men. I said this is business what LSU is doing. If you look across the board, settlements are extraordinarily common in any field. Just bc it’s college football doesn’t mean it’s not a very large business enterprise.

My brother was on the BOS during the Saban and Les years. I know how this all works. And what people are saying is nothing but conjecture and assumptions bc of what LSU is doing. That doesn’t mean the booster has backed out or that he’s not going to be okay with 800k a month. But that’s the narrative being pushed.
quote:

Legit question, if it's no big deal, then why are they fighting so hard to not pay him what he is contractually owed? They are willingly to publicly make themselves look bad to the rest of the country and other coaches in order to not pay his full buyout. There must be a reason that they are willing to do that right?

This line of thinking is exactly why people are running with the were poor narrative. They are doing business. If you’ve ever owned a company you know you always look out for your bottom line. It has nothing to do with having taf money secured. It has to do with lessening the financial burden due to him saying he was willing to settle and that is a benefit to LSU bc the annuity goes down. But they’re not paying him 54 million lump. If he decides not to settle it reverts to his 800/month for the remainder of the contract
quote:

Billionaire wants a deal

For the 40 millionth time. Billionaire Isn’t coming up with 54 million lump. It’s 800k a month for 6 years. Thats chump change to a billionaire. LSU trying to reduce the buyout has nothing to do with not having it secured bc they don’t need 50 million secured and donated all at once. It’s being paid out over time. People really will run with anything because of speculation. Just because A is true doesn’t mean B is as well.
I think they’re the pinnacle for their respective sports coming out of LSU. But going off of how they did at LSU to being a professional, Skenes has had more success way quicker. Burrow can’t stay healthy so that’s an issue. (Yeah yeah he has a shitty OL. Skenes has the worst bullpen behind him and top 5 worst offense in MLB)

Also, it’s not Skenes fault they have 1 pitching award in NCAA BSB, but in football they have 5 quarterback awards. Paul won the Dick Howser which is the best pitcher. Hes started the all star game in each of his first 2 seasons, he won the Cy Young as a 23 year old with less than 2 years service. Burrow has 2 pro bowls in 6 seasons. Come back to me when Burrow can say he’s the best on the planet at his position.

We’re fortunate to have both men represent our university, but to act like Burrow dogwalks Skenes in the GOAT category is misinformed, disingenuous and short sighted.

Clueless as usual. None of our players had more than 25 minutes tonight. Who gives a shite

Thank you. CKM has done a remarkable job getting everyone minutes and rotating thru her bench. This year the drop off Isn’t nearly as bad as it’s been in the past where you couldn’t trust the next 5, save for Poa.

I believe the ladies won’t get overextended and gassed out as much this season due to this.

Mmgrath has a weird vendetta but you brought facts.

54 over 6 years… where’s the benefit for him to take the 30

This is what a lot of people are missing. If it’s over 6 years it’s in monthly installments which is much easier to pay than a lump sum of 54 million. Chicken littles keep saying we’re broke bc we’re out 54 million. We are, just over 6 years. Which is 800k a month.
Someone said it! He and choupique19 are in every thread literally copying and pasting. Give it up already.
Good thing is he’s known and worked with Ausberry for 5 years now so he won’t have to deal with a new-new boss. They owe him some renovations and upgrades after 2 in 3, but something tells me the coffers will be semi empty for a little bit.
whomever is downvoting every post on a positive thread today, of all days, about Veterans Day is a shitehead. Thanks for your service, all.

Because we’re broke

None of this is LSU’s money. Some people really have no concept of big money and how it works and changes hands. If you have 20 million to contribute to a buyout of a football coach, you have more money than you know what to do with. You don’t just give 20 million because you have 21. We’re talking people with substantial, generational wealth. The athletic department is not on the hook for a dime of this travesty. All this did was make ~4 donors (and I’m not talking ppl who have to pay TAF fees and say they’re a booster) even more major in the scheme of things and gives them a leg up on “having input” bc they got us out this mess.

So no, it’s not because we’re broke that this is a shitshow and unable to be handled properly. It’s because of our inept politicians, starting with the coonarse midget.
