If it makes you feel better, I didn't get into Duke. But my African-American female classmate did. Honestly? At the time, it sucked. Really. I am sure you could never understand.
On the flip side, I was super happy for Cindy, my long-time classmate and friend. Her mom was a really good teacher at AHS. That is Auburn High School. Yes, Auburn City Schools are still public, free, exemplary and why parents commute from Auburn to Atlanta, Montgomery, Columbus / Phenix City, Birmingham, etc. Do Parents do those things for their family in Athens? I honestly do not know now.
I did know years ago. THEY frickING DIDN'T.
