Let’s fast forward a year. A class of 2023 athlete leaves college after 4 years to enter the NFL draft. They had bad advice and go undrafted/get cut in training camp.
According to the NCAA, they still have 1 year of eligibility left (5 for 5). According to the SEC they can’t come back because they signed an NFL contract. You think they aren’t going to sue the SEC?
LSU wants to pretend this is a limited exemption but signing an NFL player is completely distinct from any previous eligibility case and opens a major can of worms. That is why the other 15 schools drew a red line.

You completely misunderstand this case.
The 2022 class was not informed they have a 5th year until June 2026. Well after they declared for the draft and participated in training camps. Thats why they are the lone exception.

Exactly what Ping Pong said! A 2023 guy knows that he has a fifth year and he would have to willingly give up his 5th year.
These 2022 players had no idea they had a 5th year because the NCAA idiots made their rule after the draft and did so on purpose to intentionally cause confusion to attempt to force Congress to pass the Save College sports Act. The NCAA was warned that this would result in lawsuits and they did it anyway.

Unless the NCAA just fricked up the details of its 5 for 5 rules (always a possibility), you are incorrect.

All of the TRO situations have opened the door for other TRO situations. You saw it with Chambliss.

So you say. But that’s not the ruling. The ruling against the SEC is that they are not allowed to enforce a rule against NFL players (it says nothing about the NCAA or 5 for 5). Next year, the athlete I described will still have NCAA eligibility (no lawsuit needed) and this sets a precedent that the SEC can’t ban them
