Not going to argue that point. We're just arguing with the idiot trying to claim LSU's offense has been comparable to A&M's.

Remarkably efficient, even if unimpressive overall.
The redzone offense was lethal.

so wait, are you saying high profile offenses don't necessarily (or usually) win championships?

Running a bunch of plays does not an all-world offense create.

I agree, particularly about Haley.
What is AWESOME about all of this for an A&M fan is not only do we get to spar with LSU fans about how great (or not) Chavis was in retrospect, I also get to hear from local Texas fans who tell me that they STOLE Brick from LSU.
Yes, STOLE.

It certainly seems like an emphasis on remaining balanced on offense is pretty crucial to winning championships, even if you're not overwhelmingly effective with it. It would seem that it also places less strain on a defense.
I mean, even A&M went 11-2 the only year they ran the ball more often than they passed... if memory recalls, they would have won the SEC West that year if they hadn't tried to throw the ball 56 times against the best secondary in the country.

[LSUFan]A&M taking Chavis was the dumbest move ever because A&M has Vanderbuilt level defensive talent and Chavis needs LSU rock stars and a guy named Raymond to be good.[/LSUFan]
What goes around comes around. My very first post in this thread was the most reasonable one it has seen.

What do they say when you tell them that he went from a non-coaching administrative position at LSU to a DL coach at Texas?

Not without a good defense they don't. High profile offenses CAN win a title though, both of the teams playing for that honor last year had "high profile offenses."

They swear that basically yall couldn't afford to keep him as a position coach so yall demoted him hoping he would stick around once it was clear no one could afford him. Because he is worth his weight in gold if you listen to them.
The best part is that their previous DL coach made a LATERAL move to UF, so Brick HAS TO be an upgrade or Charlie got clowned.

And I agree with your first post somewhat, but then you go full dickhead.
Some of the wealthiest schools in Louisiana operate the most simplistic run first offenses in the state. A thing isn't automatically poor just because it's in Louisiana.
Texans often have a hard time grasping this.

Perhaps, but they were also heavily based on the run game... whatever type of magician you think Dave Christensen might be, your offense is nowhere near that versatile.
2014 Oregon - 474 Pass Attempts 4687 Pass Yards 9.89 Yards Per Attempt
2014 Oregon - 644 Rush Attempts 3518 Rush Yards 5.46 Yards Per Carry
2014 Ohio St - 409 Pass Attempts 3707 Pass Yards 9.06 Yards Per Attempt

I am so glad I interact with Texans on such an infrequent basis, though I'd love to hear them explain why we Orgeron is now making Haley's salary.

Well EXCUSE me I didn't take YET ANOTHER "I am a LSU fan who is going to force my opinion about Chavis down your throat" thread seriously. This is such an important fricking topic that I really should take the time to sift between the flames right?
I TRIED to be reasonable, and then I got the "Chavis was a waste, A&M has NO talent" reponse. The same fricking A&M squad that has more four stars on the defense than probably the ENTIRE fricking time I was in school has no talent just because every position isn't a fricking five star like a Nick Saban team.
So here is my promise- every fricking time I get a response about how we are a bunch of pussies and we don't have talent I am going to RUN to "Lousiana is poor, and that is the reason for ____" even if ____ is me giving LSU credit for something (like in this thread).
The end to the Chavis debate will happen Thanksgiving weekend. Any thread between now and there is literally a waste of ones and zeros. I don't always flush when I used a really dirty public toilet, and I refuse to take the high road when faced with the Rant's equivalent thread.
If my canned response upsets you then you are more than welcome to join me on the frontline of what my primary position is, which is it reasonably could have been a good thing for both programs maybe. Or continue to call me out while LSU fans are saying even more ridiculous shite than I can muster all around me. This is all for entertainment, you do whatever entertains you Wade.

2008: 30.9 (8-5)
2007: 38.6 (12-2) (SEC and National Champions)
2006: 33.7 (11-2)
aTm offense scored more ppg between 2011-2013 than LSU did in their national championship year yet managed to lose 4 and 6 games 2 of those 3 years. LSU had roughly the same ppg in 2013 that aTm did last year and went 10-3.. thing is though, aTm's talent on defense is no where near what LSU's was.

No offense, but how do you know how versatile our 2015 offense will be? We really are changing a lot of it, and this is the kind of thing that CAN change from year to year. I mean we do have some RB talent, we just wasted it in committee last year. This year we have a clear best RB, and that might change how we operate.
I get your point that given our history we should still suck at running the ball, but given history there is no WAY Auburn should have gone to the title game in 2014 or no WAY TCU should have been so good last year. Things can change.
