You kinda forgot to add Arkansas beat Texas and Nebraska in 1964, ha.
Nice try in trying to make Alabama's schedule look "tougher", ha.

Do you see all those shutouts by our D, yeah baby.

Not really. See '66.

No, it not. The first is 1966. Alabama should have been the national champion that year.

Nebraska maybe, but you beat Texas in the bowl game which is the very point jatebe was making. The Texas win did you no good for strength of schedule considering the AP national title was awarded BEFORE the bowl games.
Scratch that. My dumb### wasn't paying attention either. Kinda hard for me to state that Arkansas beat Texas in the bowl game when Alabama played them in a bowl game that year.

Not at all. We should claim '66 too. Considering we were poll champions in '64 and '65, and the only undefeated team in the country in 1966. Yet, Notre Dame and Michigan State, who played to a tie in the "Game of the Century", were voted poll champions. Neither went to a bowl. And this matters because beginning in 1966, and onward, the voters were casting their ballots after bowls.

The Football Writers Association of America (1954-Present) gave the title to Arkansas and always awarded their championships AFTER bowl games. It took the AP and UPI a while to catch on.
The most accurate system is the BCS because EVERYONE agreed to the terms and consolidated the Media formats for a champion. Obviously the only step above is a playoff system.
USC didn't win the title LSU did because it was the first time EVERYONE agreed to it.

At the time, 1964, the AP and UPI voted before bowl games. They changed it, but in 1964 it was before and Alabama won the AP and UPI.
Arkansas won the FWAA as I stated in a post somewhere in this thread.

The 1941 national championship is a fairy tale. Alabama (9-2) had lost to Mississippi State (SEC champs) and Vanderbilt. The Tide finished ranked 20th in the Associate Press Poll, behind four SEC teams.
Minnesota (8-0) swamped Duke (9-0) - now coached by Wallace Wade - in the final poll voting with 84.5 to 9.5 first-place votes. (1941 AP Poll) Minnesota swept the consensus picks (AP, CFRA, HAF, NCF). How can you be a national champion when you do not win your conference, were ranked 20th and had two more losses than the consensus champion?
In 1934, Alabama was Co-Champion of the SEC, but finished third in the inaugural AP Poll. Minnesota beat the Tide 50 to 5.5 first-place votes. All of the consensus selectors picked Minnesota.
In 1978, Alabama (11-1) lost to USC in the regular season. USC lost to a conference foe during the season. Alabama won the most consensus picks, but USC won the Coaches Poll. Some say USC is champion due to the head-to-head matchup. To me, this is a true split in the national championship.
Oh, Bama...

No matter how many times the Hogs argue about this, it's not going to change history. Alabama has the AP and UPI trophy for 1964. It's in the books.

As pointed out above Bama wants to claim titles if they are 1st or 3rd in the AP, ha ha.

The AP poll did a trial run in 1934. It wasn't continuous until 1936. Most champions prior to the AP Poll's emergence in 1936 were the winner of the Rose Bowl. Alabama defeated Stanford in the 1935 Rose Bowl ('34 season).
