Did you receive a degree from the university of which you are a fan of?

If so, then what degree?

I am planning on attending Mississippi State University and getting a degree in Aerospace Engineering.

EDIT: Also, if you're in the process of earning a degree or have attended the university.

Yes.

Petroleum Engineering.

Class of '10. Degrees in econ, finance, & advertising.

Started out with a double in econ and finance and was set to graduate in 4, but didn't want to leave. Picked up advertising to prolong the stay. Don't regret it one bit.

Undergrad degree in Political Science from UVA, and in May I will finish my Masters in Economics and International Relations at Johns Hopkins.

Grew up in New Orleans and frequently attended LSU football and basketball games with my family, most of whom are LSU grads. If my LSU affiliation makes me a sidewalk fan, then so be it.

MS Management from NCSU

To the OP ... if by chance you don't earn your degree from Moo U, does that make you a sidewalk fan?

No degree, but haven't missed an LSU game since I was 7. I am now 35. I'll put my fandom up against anyone's.

Yeah, but your sidewalk is really nice. No cracks and lined with top quality sod.

Eh I think I'll pass. If anything I would argue that classes are more difficult today due to higher expectations and more competition.
The material isn't inherently more or less difficult today that it was 30 years ago. But grading procedures were definitely more stringent back then. 30 years ago, a C was actually average.

Not the case anymore. Nowadays, schools have made it a lot easier to get B's and above. This decline in standards really escalated as mass media became more and more prevalent in the world. College information became easier to come by and so competition for enrollment became more fierce. Schools wanted to be more attractive to potential students so they started declining the difficulty with which they graded. This lead to higher GPA's and graduation rates which effectively diminished the value of the college education.

No link, but it is definitely true that getting a better GPA was more difficult 30 years ago. And the reasoning for it is pretty straight forward.

Note: obviously this did not happen in all schools, like the ones that have really high standards. But for the majority of non-elite colleges, no question about it that grading difficulty has been diluted.

I always figured sidewalk fans as those who only sign on when the team is doing well. Alumni could be sidewalk fans of the school that attended. Someone who never took a credit hour could also be a fan, having stuck with the team through thick and thin.

What is your definition of a sidewalk fan?
