Time for me to complain about the NET Rankings again

Look, even if you do agree with the ridiculous quadrant system, this shite makes no sense.
Georgia picked up a Quad I win last night, but only moved from 82 to 78.
Here is UGA’s team sheet:
Now check out some teams ahead of them:
Bradley (#75)
Washington (#71)
Florida(#55)
See how UGA ranks in other metrics:
RPI: 24
KPI: 37
Strength of Record: 42
ELO: 57
KenPom: 65
Torvik: 67
NET: 78
Seems like a broken system to me.

There's tournament teams and then suckage. If you're not in the first category, your team blows.

Still early and the data is still catching up on various teams. Keep winning and it will take care of itself.

It is a very bad system. Too reliant on team quality and not enough on resume.

One Quad 1 win, that's one less than LSU. Pretty simple.

Yep. At the end of a 34 game season, who cares which teams have the highest offensive rebounding rate or turnover percentage?
It should be entirely about who you beat and who you lost to.

My biggest complaint is it rewards teams too much for a tough schedule even if you lose those games.
For example Team A could have played 6 Quad 1 games and be 1-5 in them and overall be 15-7 with a 2-1 record in Quad 2 and undefeated in Q3/4.
Team B could be 19-3 with a 2-2 Quad 1 record, 5-1 Q2 and undefeated in Q3/4
Team A most times would have a higher NET.

That’s exactly what’s going on with Florida right now.
They are 0-5 in Q1 and their best win is a neutral site game vs PITT but they are #55. Crazy stuff
UGA has 4 wins better than UF’s best win and UF’s worst loss is worse than UGA’s worst loss.
Yet UF is 23 spots ahead

There are a few sites out there where you can play with things and build your own ranking. I think most of the time those look better than what the NET does.

The Bart Torvik t-ranketology site lets you do it. If you make one where you only make the bracket based on wins over q1 and q2 and take away points for losses to q3 and q4 then it looks a lot different than most of the internet bloggers bracketologies. 2 tennessee, 7 alabama, 7 texas am, 8 mississippi state, 8 ole miss, 9 auburn, 10 georgia, 11 south carolina, 11 kentucky.

Doesn't NET focus on other things rather than outcome? I think that's the disconnect here.

They could make the tourney 200 teams and team 201 would still be bitching
