If Clemson/FSU go sec and the big ten has an oppty to grab a Florida team, the sec minght not want that.

Anybody that thinks Notre Dame would ever join the SEC is hopelessly clueless.

If it didn’t matter, Clemson and FSU would have been in the either league prior to signing a new deal.

Up until recently, they were thought to be trapped in the ACC until 2036 to due the GOR

Due to their lawsuits which were recently settled, it is highly likely that they now end up in one of the SEC or B1G in the next go around

You don’t have a clue. You still think this is about culture, tradition, or academics. It’s not.

The B1G is considered "snobby" due to the large majority of their members being AAU

Message board rumors are that it is still a requirement to join despite Nebraska losing the designation shortly after joining

I think the Big would still prefer AAU status if possible. But it doesn’t matter as much to them as it used to. It’s all about the money now.

Guaranteed spot in the SEC or Big: Notre Dame

Probably won’t get an invite to either conference but there is still hope: Stanford

So many say ND will want Stanford. BUT that limits B1G’s actions.

Unless they go over 20…which the SEC will too.

Kansas Basketball might be more valuable than both the Virginia Schools whole athletic departments. Kansas’s Billionaire alumni have also been pretty consistent in investing large sums of money into their Athletics Department. Unlike schools like Florida State.

The ACC wouldn’t even take UConn.

Kansas basketball is worth a lot when you compare to other basketball programs. But getting a presence in Virginia is more valuable for the long term viability of the conference. Virginia is the 12th most populated state and will only get bigger.

Meanwhile, the Midwest is dying.

The CIC, or Committee on Institutional Cooperation, was the former name for the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA), a consortium of the Big Ten Conference universities and the University of Chicago.

Founded in 1958 as the academic counterpart to the Big Ten athletic conference, the BTAA (formerly CIC) facilitates academic collaboration among its member institutions, including resource sharing, joint research, shared libraries, student opportunities, and joint purchasing to save costs.
Key Aspects of the CIC (now BTAA):

Founding and Purpose:
Established in 1958, it was the academic initiative of the Big Ten presidents to promote collaboration among leading research universities.

Membership:
It includes all the universities of the Big Ten Conference and the University of Chicago.

Benefits to Members:
Resource Sharing: Members can access library collections, technology, and other resources on each other's campuses.
Cost Savings: Joint purchasing and licensing agreements reduce costs for member institutions.
Student Opportunities: Students have opportunities to take courses at other member institutions and participate in study abroad programs.

Research Collaboration:
Members collaborate on research initiatives and leverage collective expertise to solve problems.

The CIC is the driving force and brings in billions and billions of research $$$$ that is shared between the schools.

AAU schools are basically huge research schools. When they also are competitive in sports, that makes them a candidate to join the B1G.

The CIC $$$ makes the media deals look like peanuts, or at least that is the way I understand it.

TLDR: It’s important to the B1G schools and I don’t ever see that changing.

ND’s B1G’s prime target. # 20 is who ND wants.

Anybody else creates the SEC/B1G 24 teams discussion.

Not saying they don’t.
But people say other schools have bigger brand name than Duke.

The B1G chose Rutgers over UConn in 2012. Let that sink in.

If you want the longer answer, let me know.
