First of all, I must commend Auburn for their relentless effort on the court today. Not only did those guys beat us to every loose ball, but they stuffed us on offense and rendered our ability to make short FGs nonexistent. For each Tennessee basket in the second half, Auburn capitalized with a quick answer, extinguishing any chance of Tennessee narrowing the lead. This team is incredibly skilled from beyond the arc, which is absolutely lethal when their players get hot. Following a brief slump during the first half of SEC play, Auburn has found their rhythm and become more cohesive, and I think they will go far in the big dance.

Second, it is not outlandish to say we have witnessed Tennessee's ceiling against Kentucky this season. What makes the Vols such a dangerous team to play is that they do have the potential to beat any team in the country. When Grant and Admiral are firing on all cylinders and you throw in a high-scoring game from Bone and/or Turner, Tennessee is a very difficult team to keep up with. Conversely, it's notable that Tennessee has arrived where it is today with 2 and 3 star players; in the grand scheme of things, it's extremely impressive that this Tennessee team has been able to boat race an NBA Jr. team like Kentucky twice in one season.

However, when the Vols are gassed, they are gassed. We saw it today on the court. As someone who played basketball in high school, I can tell when players' legs are tired. You are unable to make seemingly easy jumpers and less agile when driving to the basket- this resulted in Auburn being able to stuff Tennessee so easily just ten minutes into regulation. You may have noticed the Vols kept driving to the basket and getting trapped in the corners or flat out turning the ball over. That is a tired basketball team with a bunch of tired pairs of legs. We can see the effects of giving their all against UK yesterday had on the team today. For that matter, I consider fatigue and an overall discrepancy in talent the Vols' biggest weakness going into the NCAAT. Thankfully, we got a good draw in our tourney division, so I am hopeful Tennessee will see the Elite 8 this season.

Good Game UT! I'm beyond excited we got the W today. UT is a good team and Barnes is a good coach. Good luck in the tournament!

Today’s game was Auburn’s fourth game in four days. Tennessee’s third. Change your strength and conditioning coach.

You would be a refreshing sports-writer.

Has anyone ever told you that?

These aren't equal in magnitude. Tennessee scored 82 regulation points against an incredible Kentucky defense. Auburn meddled with middle-of-the-pack Florida for the win on that same date.

Also, does playing Missouri really count as a challenge of strength?

From tip off times it was our third in 40hrs. IIRC, it was Auburn's 4th in 70hrs.

It was definitely a depth issue today. Auburn finally has the depth it's been looking for this season from it's bench, and Tennessee's numbers just won't allow it to get to that level this year. Tennessee is a great team when rested. They are vulnerable when depth becomes an issue.

I was worried about that coming into the game. Today we saw how deep Auburn is. Our floor general went out just a few minutes into the game.......and we actually started playing better. It was impressive.

If you aren't being sarcastic, I am flattered you think so. But I don't read enough to be your typical Deadspin cleverbot. I'm a rigid, left-brained engineering type.

We came to the tourney on a mission to beat UK and tbh, I think we spent everything we had on that game. Our guys tried but Auburn was on fire from three and we could barely keep our hands on the ball. (I think we had 7 or 8 straight turnovers).

That's the thing that is never talked about with Auburn. Everybody just wants to talk about the 3's. Our guys turn people over at an alarming rate.

We just do not match up with them at all. Much like when Bruce took 3 of 4 from Billy’s two title squads.

I mean we are talking stamina and our starters had to play as much against Missouri as they did against the other teams.

It's no surprise to those of us who remember Bruce-ball. We know it's a Pearl thing. Still, it was frustrating how sloppy we were knowing full well that y'all would feast on turnovers.

I thought our forced turnover numbers would go down as we played against better teams. Those numbers are holding steady though.

When Auburn was playing really poorly this season, we were lazily turning the ball over and not forcing a lot of fastbreak turnovers. It was like it was on purpose. Everything in slow motion, not attacking, and sluggish in every facet. Against Florida, we turned it over 4 times. Compare that to 14 steals. Today, turned it over 7 times to 14 steals and 6 blocks. Things are clicking, because this is what we were getting used to seeing before Dayton and UAB. When Harper and McCormick attack the rim, completely different team.
