Again, four is enough to be sure the top two are in. That's all you need.

2008 would have been an incredible year for an 8-team college football playoff.

UCF is 13 in the country and undefeated. Wisconsin is 5th, bypassed by Clemson and Oklahoma. Wisconsin has lost zero games.
Ohio State, Notre Dame, Georgia are all higher ranked than they deserve to be, based on their name and perception of the names they’ve played.

Exactly, take the opinions out of the selection process - OR - just use opinion polls to select the champion like it used to be. Don't try to make it look objective when it's not.

A 6 team playoff would be perfection. Give the top 2 teams a Bye amd let the bottom 4 duke it out. This evens things out for the better teams, while also including the teams that otherwise would have been "snubbed".
