Yes, he’s clearly fatter.

Also, he’s not wrong. The committee is awful.

Dude, aside from Texas your SEC schedule went a combined 12-44 in the league. That’s otherworldly weak in this conference. Even with them it’s 18-46. Your SEC opponents barely averaged over 2 conference wins

If Elko wants an explanation it is easy - beat the teams you are supposed to like Texas. No sympathy at all.

Yes, A&M should just accept being held to a different standard than other schools because BAS or something.

If we beat Texas we would be 2 or 3 not 5 or 6 or 7.

Rankings are meaningless until at least halfway or 3/4 through the season. How good a team actually is > how good a team is supposed to be. Look at where TX started and finished. I guess you beating them does play a role in their rank falling but that doesn’t move the needle. ND lost to AM and are still top 10. Other than that what teams did you beat that took an unfair hit to their ranking? The fact is AM split between the two best teams they played with a loss late against a TX team the lost to UGA, FL (yuk) and got taken to OT against MsState and KY. The difference between 6th and 7th is stupid anyway. Just be glad you’re in. Miami, Vandy and UVA (if they win) have a real reason to be pissed.

There is a very real difference and that's why teams want a higher seed. 6 Seed probably means playing UVA in the first round and Tech in the second in the Cotton. 7 seed means playing Bama/ND/Miami in the first round and UGA or Indiana in either the Sugar or the Orange in the second. You want the better matchups.

The problem with the rest of your argument is A&M has a better SOS and SOR than the other teams they are being compared to.

This. No matter how you slice it, ATM has a better SOS and SOR than other teams 11-1. Yes, it’s against the weaker side of the SEC, but what this is saying is that the weak side of the SEC is still stronger than any other conference….

The Committee isn’t being consistent. And, more concerningly, it’s bad news for everyone if the Committee isn’t valuing the SEC top to bottom as they should. And comparing it to something like the Big12.

Too many of you morons don’t see the bigger issue here.

The committee will do the SEC no favors. We have already seen as much.

Aggies’ best win is 1-point over ND, currently ranked 10 and probably falling out of the playoffs. Ole Miss’s best win is over 8th ranked OK, by 8. Aggies’ loss was by two scores to 13th ranked TX and OM’s was by one score to 3rd ranked UGA. Second best wins: Aggies beat unranked Mizzou; OM beat ranked Tulane. Both teams’ third best win was over LSU. The rest of both teams’ wins are inconsequential. Both of OM’s best two wins were over better teams than Aggies’ best two, and OM’s only loss was to better team than Aggies’.

By Sunday, OM will have two wins over teams likely in the playoffs; Aggies likely will have none.

Not even close between OM and Aggies for higher ranking. Just stop.

Now, if you want to argue that OM and maybe Aggies should be above Oregon and/or TTech, fine. That’s at least debatable.

Also what difference does it make? If you want to win a natty you've got to beat teams, shouldn't matter which ones.

They don't know, they've never been this highly ranked this late in the season before

Can’t see that the line at 12 with auto bids is what is causing the issue? 32 would mean every major program would likely be in that has a decent season.

Continually expanding will only muddy the waters. You will still have certain conferences )B1G and SEC) insisting on having a minimum number of teams, then the G5 will want a few more....shoot, I can foresee some DIV II schools wanting their champions to be included and so on and so forth.

Do you really think having Mississippi State vs. San Jose State is going to make things better?

For instance...the 32nd place team this year was New Mexico. no thank you. I have no desire whatsoever to see New Mexico play. Or Houston, UNLV also finished in the top 32. A Navy vs. New Mexico does not interest me whatsoever.

Hey...it's your opinion, but when they expand that much, I will be doing other things on Saturdays, rather than watching watered down college football.

you can bet your arse the rankings are being based on putting teams in slots so they don’t repeat games or that the committee believes will be interesting

The question everyone wants to know is, is

putting teams in slots so they don’t repeat games or that the committee believes will be interesting.
the job of the committee?

I think everyone believes the job of the committee is to select the top 12 teams in order. The committee should be an independent body that should not be infuenced by ESPN, yet it is constructed by extremely biased members. It deserves a look.

Which is strange. Are they just trying to prop up other conferences?

No you won’t. You will watch. Same as always.

But, regardless, what’s going on now is silly without clear metrics.

No shite. Whining for an easier bracket is a loser mentality.

I guess they want to hang a banner for “made it to the 2nd round of the CFP”

That’s what they say but we all know what they’re doing.
