The vols have paid a heavy price for that unprecedented luck, but I am sure it was worth it. E

Because God known that we haven't gotten any fricking breaks since then.

I wonder who would have played in the national championship if Tennessee had lost that game. There would have been four one-loss conference championships from Power conferences (Florida State, Ohio State, Tennessee, UCLA) along with Kansas State who finished third in the BCS Standings even after their conference championship game loss.

2006 and 2007. 2007 had a better record and played in the SECCG but 2006 was very good. Lost in the final seconds to Florida and LSU that year.

Kinda got screwed on the Florida game where a pick 6 to seal the game was called back due to a players pinky grazing Chris Leak’s helmet.

This was the last time Tennessee was good?

When was the last time A&M won a national championship?

We'll hang up and listen.

He didn't stumble.

Billy Ratliff knocked All-American guard, Brandon Burlsworth (RIP), straight backwards onto Stoerner which caused him to fall and fumble.

Ratliff then recovered the fumble.

Meet "ground". Other wise known as Billy Ratliff.

Kinda like The Prayer at Jordan Hare and Kick 6 for 2013 Auburn. Sometimes Lady Luck just shines for you.

Seriously. This is rich coming from an Auburn fan. Every single national champion gets a little luck along the way.

Saban/Alabama doesn't win their first title in 2009 without Tennessee having a kicker with a bum quad missing 3 kicks, 2 of them being kicked into Cody's fat armpits.

LSU 2007 lost 2 games and still managed to eek into the final slot of the BCS championship game.

Auburn in 2010 bought Cam Newton and didn't get caught and had to survive Alabama blowing a 24 point lead.

Ohio State won a natty in 2002 over Miami on a blown PI call, ect.

they were damn good in 2001

Saban once called the 2001 Vols perhaps the most talented team he has ever coached against. God damn Matt Mauck, John Chavis and the damn QB draw.

Haynesworth/John Henderson were one of the most dominant DT pairs I've ever seen in college. Jason Witten, Stallworth, Kelley Washington on offense.

We probably lose to Miami in the 2001 natty game, but it would have been a hell of a lot closer than Nebraska playing them.

Everyone remembers the fumble. But people always forget that after the fumble with just 1:30 left Tennessee elected to cram the rock up the middle every single play until they crossed the damn line. Not one pass.

Kick arse, smash mouth football at it's finest. Probably the finest moment of any offensive line in Tennessee history. Nothing soft about what happened after the fumble.

People also forget that our deep snapper sailed one over the punter's head, too. We self destructed late in the game. Tennessee was a great team that season. We had to play perfect to beat them....and we didn't.

Why does everyone always say Vols loose this game? I bet Miami being in the Big East at the time never played a defense like the Vols was bringing with them.
