Kinda, but not really. That was just the pursuit of a professional player.

I'd go back to Tennessee's lawsuit vs the NCAA in 2024. I think the NCAA was "investigating" them about NIL stuff, and possibly try to threaten or penalize them, which is/was NCAA standard operating procedure.

Tennessee sued and won, and basically stripped the NCAA of any authority and power they had left. Ever since, it's been wide open with zero repercussions for everyone. Sure, you had the roadbump with Texas Tech and Sorsby, but that was about the gambling angle, not about taking any and every player you could.

I'm not sure, the numbers are all over the place. They gave scholarships to some walkons like Tee Martin's son, so maybe they process those kids. Some kid also got kicked off the team, and there's at least two season ending injuries, I wonder if they technically take their roster spot for this year and give it back next season?
