Long-term the car dealership owners of the world are going to lose out to large national and international advertising firms guiding talent where it is most economically beneficial to them.
Right now we're just seeing the end days of the old system that was on the black market operate, now, in broad daylight.
The systems for paying players is being rationalized and all the medium sized players are going to get pushed out. It won't be about such-in-such Honda owner who graduated from State U guiding players to their alma mater. It is going to be the advertising agencies of Honda and others guiding talent where it most benefits their market interests.

What does this change? Sabans been paying players for his entire career at bama with chargers and other incentives. It's not like he hid it. The NCAA just failed to hold them accountable.

For you? Nothing. Alabama will dominate LSU either way.

And I'm sure Saban has gone to great lengths to make sure no one is illegally paying any player now, just like he has in the past.
We're all in the fricking mud together.

No one will be able to keep up with the Texas schools if they honestly go 100% all in on NIL.
But they won't. That's the thing about Texas, they always talk about how much money they can spend, but then they never do.
Look at their head coaching hires. They never go out and spend the really big money to bring in the really big coaches. They have been going out and getting offensive coordinators from teams that do have good coaches. Hell they just hired a guy who was called 7 win Sark and has never elevated a program as HC.
So if they do, it'll be the first time.
It's not about how much money you have, it's all about what you are willing to spend. Alabama went out and made Saban the highest paid coach in college football and has continued to pay him top money.

What players has Saban paid?

And charities are giving money to college football players?
What charities are you aware of that are giving money to college football players?

He wasn't recruited using the NIL. And those deals are from big name companies, not local booster companies.
Not really the same thing. But I'm sure it does help in recruiting when a guy is getting that many national deals for those numbers.
No clue if this law will make much difference, but I don't see that it's going to hurt....well other than the entire thing will likely ruin college football.

But the poster was talking about the state of Texas, was he not?

ETA
Reread and nope. I was wrong. The poster was talking about Texas the school and not the state. My apologies, and the posters point stands.

Clearly all we have done is legalize something that wasn’t before. Nobody is in denial.

yes, but we (aggy) have ALWAYS had the NCAA sniffing around our asses (it was sexy), especially since Charles Allen Wright was on the infractions committee.
This is what happens when the NCAA can't do shite.

Alabama is changing their laws to compete with Texas. It takes $ to compete with Texas. Don’t get made at Louisiana Bc Texas and A&M will out bid y’all. Alabama is made now Bc they were great at cheating and getting the recruits. Now it’s legal to pay them, y’all scared
