The winner is in the ACC loser is out. CFP has NEVER selected a CCG loser.

Two games between Clemson and Notre Dame is enough. Possibly having 3 would be ridiculous.

Has there ever been an undefeated team lose in a Conference Championship Game?

I don’t think so.

Wasn’t Florida undefeated in 2009?

If Clemson beats Notre Dame, there will absolutely guaranteed take-it-to-the-bank be 2 ACC teams in the CFP.

Everyone agrees that Notre Dame is in with a loss.

The CFP has considered injuries in the past. I think they will do so with ND's previous win over Clemson if Lawerence takes ND to the woodshed. Now if it's a close loss, that could be a different story. However no sense in creating a possible third matchup between two teams if it's obvious ND can't compete with a healthy Clemson offense.

What could be interesting is what happens with the fourth spot if Clemson does blow out ND and FL somehow beats Bama. Not a probable scenario, but remotely possible.

Must suck to have your best team ever not even make the playoff

I’m referring to the playoff era.

There hasn’t been an undefeated team lose in a conference championship, nor has there even been a major upset.

Wrong.

In 2015, #4 Iowa was 12-0 going into the Big Ten Championship in what was essentially a play-in game. They lost to #5 Michigan State 16-13. Michigan State ended up 3rd in the CFP poll.

In 2017, #4 Wisconsin was 12-0 going into the Big Ten Championship. They lost to #8 Ohio State 27-21. Alabama ended up with the #4 spot as they were the only 1-loss team remaining. Ohio State was 5th.

If the loser is a money draw like ND then you’ll see it. This is ALL about $$$. The Irish bring the bucks. Fact.

Had Wisconsin beaten Ohio State in 2017, Georgia likely wins the CFP.
