re: The way LSU is handling the Orgeron situation is unique and might be smart.

Here’s my thoughts FWIW:
Ed LOVES LSU… like genuinely loves the school, the fans, his players, and Louisiana. And we all LOVE him for it. And growing up here, he not only understands the standards, but he feels them himself. He knows his own shortcomings and has fought like a Tiger to overcome them. He’s just fallen short, and he’s an honest enough person to admit that.
He’s not gonna destroy or sabotage the program bc he doesn’t want to let the school, fans, players, or state down. It’s a unique situation with a sincere coach who has had a string of bad luck finding coordinators and staff. And he’s honest enough to admit that he has GOT to have people who can fill in the gaps on X’s and O’s where his expertise is lacking. That’s not a slight on him… he’s readily admitted it numerous times.
In today’s situation of college football, where there is so much on the line financially, the people who have SUSTAINED success at the top programs have computer-like brains, are complete students and engineers of the game and know the game inside and out. They also have staffs that are geniuses in their own right, and are innovative and sharp as tacks. That is their LIFE. Ed knows this, and he’s worked like heck to be that… he’s just fallen a little short. BUT I give him nothing but mega props and thank-you’s for his passion and effort. Also, he gave us 2019 and for that we should always hold him in tip-top regard here. I have nothing but love for him, but he just isn’t what we have to have leading the program now.
Anyway, that’s my opinion.

Even if Coach O has his separation package tied to "keeping things on the tracks", there's no way he lasts until the end of the season IMO. Either something else more toxic comes out now that the bloodletting has started, or he can't resist saying something stupid.

Just watc
As usual, you are wrong on your take about LSU.
We are playing with house money from here on out. In the grand scheme, it doesn't matter if we win or lose the rest of the way.
If you look at our coaching staff, there is no qualified interim guy. So there would be no magic change if O left early.

It transfers the power to Woodward now. He can run damage control which would ease his search. It's smart.
The new hire will also be smart.
Watch out in 2022, it's not like we're not talented.

It doesn’t matter? Recruiting?

Recruiting?

All that matters ultimately is who can they get to take the job.

People involved in the game understand what is happening. We will lose some recruits. But the people at LSU I'm sure are on top of this.

You guys are crazy if you think LSU is handling this great, but I'm in favor of watching it all go down.

Pretty much the exact opposite of how the Miles fiasco was handled.
So much irony going on. 5 years ago as an interim Orgeron dropped a dramatic morning game in TS to Florida wearing Orange. It looked like he was done but still ended up getting the gig permanently.
This year another dramatic morning game vs orange wearing Florida and it didn't save him.

He loved it so much he was wasting valuable practice time for his girlfriends kids.
But sure, now that he's been fired, LSU will certainly be his top priority.

We know he's gone, this isn't an issue

I couldn't agree more, but I believe Scott Woodward is going to be bird dogging the hell out of him for the remainder of the season.

Leave it to Daniel to make an irrational childish response….

I think the only concern is that other programs are going to descend on the LSU recruits like Oprah Winfrey having her "cheat day" at an all you can eat buffet.
On the other hand... I'm pretty sure they've already been doing that.
I think its time. Like you said... not sure you really gain anything by dragging this out till the final game of the season.

The only reason they announced it was to get out ahead of Ed possibly winning some games and being kept ala Les Miles. Ole Miss fired Houston Nutt midyear and let him finish and the results were awful. Ole Miss proceeded to get blown out by LSU, Auburn, Kentucky, Louisiana Tech, and MSU.

Because then Woodward ends up in a fishing hole in the swamp

I don’t know why. Woodward and LSU have O in line and they control the message 100%. Seems like a clear cut winning strategy to me. The alternative is a typical mess no matter what school is getting rid of a coach.
No more “Coaches on the hot seat” per ESPN. No more radio talk shows saying to fire his arse. Just about all bad press gone on a Sunday.
