The talk about A&M's offense if we had lost

So far all the talk I've seen today about A&M's offense against Bama has been very positive. Bama couldn't keep up with the tempo, KK called a good game, JFF is the real deal, etc. which is what I would expect.
But let's say that McCarron's last pass is a touchdown instead of an INT and Bama wins. We'd have the exact same offensive stats, but all the talk would be about how terrible our "gadget" offense is and how we can never compete in the SEC.
After all, that's exactly what happened after the LSU game. We gain 400+ yards but lose due to 5 turnovers and all the talk is about how we can't play this way successfully in the SEC.
So my question is, if Bama pulls off that last drive, does it completely change the view of A&M's offense?

Good question, and yes, people would think differently even though stats are the same.

I think your offense would still get credit for gashing our defense. But the perception definitely would have been different.

This, nature of the beast.

Well good thing that didn't happen or we would of had to put up with an entire off season of "you didn't beat anybody, JFF can't win against a real SEC defense" bull crap.

Florida shut it down.
LSU shut it down.
Bama won 24-9 after the first quarter.
This is not even a full season in yet. You better get an SEC defense and keep your all everything QB healthy for 2 more years, if you want to win a championship.

I don't know. I think ya'll would get more credit than you think.
I thought if we won we'd get a lot of outplayed, but somehow won talk again (not to say that wouldnt have been the case). So I think yall would have got some credit for outplaying us.

Funny how our OC that made the call last week to beat LSU is on the hotseat with alot of the fan base this week for that call from the 2.
and congrats on a great game/win.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. You call getting burned for 400+ yards "shutting it down?" This isn't some moral victory kind of thing, I'm just trying to point out how ridiculous it is to base your entire viewpoint on only the final score.

doesn't matter. aTm won't win division or conference using that same offense. they might win a few big games here and there but no division/conference

If we could still win the MNC, I'd take it.

I can't speak for Alabama fans, but I know as an LSU fan, I would be sick to my stomach if we ran an offense similar to anything in the same area code of what Sumlin does.
Puts way too much pressure on pitch and catch, and decision making by your QB. And is strongly dependent on weather conditions, also.
And that's just the offense. Even if you take Manziel's health out of the question, what about the defense? Sometimes your best defense is ball control on offense, and Sumlin's style is short on possession.
Point of attack is important in the SEC. And it's hard to win the point of attack, and still spread the field.

Don't care... What I really wanna see are AJ McCarron and Kirby Smarts thoughts on the game. Can't find that shite anywhere. We're they not made available to the media?

A&M had a few good ball control drives.

84 and 27 JM vs LSU
Geno and Oregon did the same last year and guess what? They lost too.

I'd bet aTm offense will evolve to a heavier run over next 3 years. sure the aTm coaches are smart enough to figure it out.

Our talent on D in 2014 will be lightyears ahead of this squad

I agree.
First half of Florida.
First quarter of LSU.
First quarter of Alabama.
This isn't even a full season in yet. Wait til the next time around.
BTW, congrats on the win. It was well deserved. But, your TD in the second half was 2 plays. Probably about 14 seconds.

Opinions are shamed by wins and losses, not the actual results. Had we put up 550 yards on Bama but lost, everyone would still claim our offense "can't work" in the SEC.
Logic doesn't come into play when people have preformed opinions. You have to win to prove otherwise, and anything less brings with it rationalizations and excuses.
Our offense not only can work against the big boys, it does work. Nearly 1,000 combined yards and 48 points on Bama and LSU, the baddest defenses in college football, proves that. People will continue to point to our LSU loss, but the reality is that we're a perfectly thrown tipped ball away from playing for the title in Atlanta in our first year with the "big boy" SEC defenses.

Yards are cute but wins are all that matter.
