You read that wrong. This says 37% of gay people live in the South. I have no idea if that is accurate.

The south is and always has been home to a sizeable homosexual population. That map, however, adds about 80% or so of area to the actual South. Texas, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Maryland and Delaware are as southern as Detroit. It’s great that the south is home to a diverse population. Delaware and Texas ain’t the south.

I'm pretty sure most Mizzou fans are in the south as well.
