The SEC's Historical Big 6

No surprises. It's the same 6. But I really haven't heard "Big 6" mentioned outside of this board.

what about this gem

quote:

It's not something we'd really like to acknowledge, but Auburn is in the bottom of the Big Six, historically. The Tigers are never better than 4th in any category and are tied for the bottom with Tennessee in the overall numbers.

Auburn also has the dubious distinction of being the team with the most years of finishing last in the conference. The Tigers have never taken that title outright, though. The only Big Six team to finish outright last in the conference is LSU in 1992. Florida tied for last in the conference in 1979. Those seasons for Auburn were 1980, 2008, and 2012. In all instances, the head coach was fired following that season.

This is shocking to me. Finish last 2 seasons, but also play for the national title twice near those 2 seasons as well.

From 1964 to 2008, the Vols finished outside of the Top Six just four times

The only way to recreate the bumbling idiocy of Curley would be to splice Dooley, Mason, Joker, Dooley's mom, Nutt, and John L. Smith together.

Whats so gemmy about it? I will take all of those if it means I have seen my team win a NC in my lifetime.

Really? its been the basis of several SEC related decisions, like the '92 divisional split

Yeah. I guess I never paid much attention to it. I was just in high school when the SEC split in 92. But if you tell me Big 6, I would know what 6 schools you are talking about.

Well yeah. Did you see the stats they wrote? It is no secret to any Auburn fan that the past 5 years sum up what our history has been like. Either balls to the wall or fall on our faces.

How did UK tie for the championship in 76? They had one more loss than UGA.

What program would you rather have. A team that has three undefeated seasons since 93', three SECC since 04, two appearances in the NC Game in the last 5 years, one BCSNC , or a program that is considered three on the list with nothing to show for it ?
