The Hell it does. It needs to stay in Atlanta, the college football capital of the world, where it belongs.

In order for it to always be a neutral site and never a home game for any team, it should always be in College Station

Imagine playing the SEC Title game in these environments!
Now do Arkansas.
You ever been to a game in Fayetteville? For starters, for most teams in the conference, you practically have to have a passport to get three.

I understand it's a long arse drive from the schools that would likely be playing there.

Lucky for you as a Bama fan, won’t have to worry about the drive. Your championship run has come to a conclusion.

Well, it's only been 10 years since that arse whipping in 2014. Maybe you'll get back to the game in your lifetime. I mean, seriously? You're fricking Missouri. And you're talking smack?

The geographic center of the SEC is Houston, MS. Here are the distances to Atlanta, and the stadiums you suggested:
Center to Atlanta - 296 Miles
Center to Irving, TX - 570 Miles
Center to Nashville, TN - 230 Miles
Center to Tampa, FL - 751 Miles
Center to New Orleans, LA - 328 Miles
Center to Kansas City, MO - 573 Miles
So...it should stay in Atlanta, then possibly move closer to the center to Nashville after they finish their new dome in 2027.

It's kinda telling that the jawja fans are so pissed about this thread.

Yeah I don't see anyone in the SEC thrilled about playing the SECCG in Arrowhead when it's 10 fricking degrees outside with a -5 wind chill.... It was brutal going to the Big12 CCG there years ago. frick that place.
Arrowhead is great for tailgating whether it's 95 degrees or 20 degrees and the stadium is second to none for watching a game, the fans get a good view of the field from nearly every seat in the stadium.
It's quite likely Arrowhead will either be completely revamped in the next 5-7 years or a new stadium will be constructed on the same property currently occupied by the Royals and Chiefs. Whether there is a new stadium or a revamped stadium, most Chiefs fans want the stadium to be partially open to the elements. I saw the new Bills stadium on SNF and it will have 60% of the seating covered, maybe that configuration would be a consideration for a new Arrowhead?

Now show neutral site stadiums in Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Kentucky
We'd probably play it in Charlotte ... an hour up the road.

It will stay right where it is now.

Surprised its not in Birmingham every year so the SEC office can just drive 20 min to the game.
It was at first and this is exactly why it is in Atlanta and going to stay in Atlanta. It is the closest stadium with the supporting infrastructure to host the game to SEC headquarters. Its about 50 miles closer than Nissan Stadium, it has a fricking roof, it is 12 miles from the busiest airport on the planet and is surrounded by more hotel rooms at better rates than any city in the south other than Miami (810 miles from SEC HQ) and Houston (667 miles from SEC HQ). Its also in the epicenter of the CFB world. If it ever moves the ACC will move in and never leave and the SEC will be faced with traveling to more expensive and less convenient locations that are farther away for the majority of schools. About 350 miles on average compared to 500+ for any city that makes sense other than Nashville and there is a roof, far better transportation and cheaper hotels...and its closer to SEC HQ which is really all that matters....

Just rotate it between Atlanta and Dallas and call it good.
When SEC officials can wake up at 9 am on game day in their own home, stop by the office for a few minutes on the 2 hour drive to Dallas it will be in Dallas. Until that unlikely event comes to pass ....welcome to Atlanta, y'all.....

Dallas is an easy drive for the schools in the West. 2.5 hours from Norman vs 13 to Atlanta for example.
What is more important to the location of the SEC CG is it is a 2 hour drive from where the people who make the decision live and work compared to a 9 hour drive. Any school who joined the SEC without looking at a map made a mistake IF the distance from their residence to the SEC CG was an issue...because you can rest assured that the people who make the decision did indeed look at a map and found that Atlanta was the closest location to them that was suitable for the event. Nashville is a close second but there is a roof in Atlanta.

It will get played in Nashville after the new stadium is built.
This is probably so. I don't know about it being permanent but for certain at least some. The problem with Nashville is more than a roof though....you can stay in a 4 star hotel in Manhattan for what a Motel 6 in Nashville costs. There is also nowhere near the transportation infrastructure in Nashville that there is in Atlanta. Its going to be a LONG time before Nashville makes up ground in the last 2 areas if they ever do. There is also the fact that MB is about 50 miles closer to the decision makers office than Nashville is....

actually have less seating? Makes no sense.
Really? You do not understand how fewer tickets for bigger games makes no sense?
I have been to most SEC Stadiums. None hold a candle to Mercedes Benz. They are ALL better when there is a home crowd than ANY NFL stadium but split down the middle they would all, every last one of them, suck and suck hard. The best among them are slightly more comfortable and accommodating than a high school stadium....what makes them special is the home crowd. Unless of course you mean the higher ranked team has home field advantage and it is not split equally....but that also sucks for half the teams playing in it. Given that the 2 teams are most likely going to have played very different schedules most years giving one an advantage over another without regard to schedule is some old bullshite....

I think the idea of rotating it from North (Nashville-new stadium), South (New Orleans), West (Dallas), and East (Atlanta) is brilliant. Those are the biggest markets in the SEC footprint. All have major airports for easier fan travel. When the Titans new stadium is complete, they will all be climate controlled ( I think championships should not be determined by random weather).
My favorite part of this is it allows a greater variety of fans to attend- I don’t think the average family can afford to drive/fly multiple states away during December (Christmas expenses) to watch a football game that is less important than the playoffs. By rotating it, a family may say “ if it’s in so and so city, that’s only an hour drive to go see it.

You don't think Mercedes Benz Stadium would rather have a full time ACC championship game than an every 3rd or 4th year SEC championship?
It'd be worse than that....Atlanta only cares about an event in a period with few conventions. It makes no difference to the city of Atlanta if it is the SEC, the ACC, or any other conference...once locked in the city will stay locked in. Atlanta is not interested in sharing the events in question with Charlotte and Dallas....its all or nothing. If it ever leaves Atlanta its unlikely to ever be played in the most logistical location suitable for the event and located in the epicenter of the CFB world.
Like it or not the SEC is the Southeastern Conference and is mostly made up of schools in the Southeastern United States. Fans of the majority of those schools make up a MASSIVE amount of the population of the biggest metro area in the SE and the 6th largest metro area in the US. Those fans who do not live in the metro area are accustomed to traveling to the area for sporting events (MLB, NBA, NFL), concerts, cultural events, business, weddings etc. Atlanta is the regional capital of most of the SE United States. It is the only international city in the region with a major airport, major convention industry and a suitable stadium. I fully understand that people who are scared to leave their homes and travel more than 20 miles unless its to go to Gatlinburg or Panama City are terrified of Atlanta but sane people aren't saddled with such irrational fear.
