Best thing would be to go to a 9 game conference schedule with 1 permanent opponent and 2 rotating teams. Bama would have to choose between the iron bowl and TSIO. But over 4 years, every team should play every other team at least once.

Bama has been wanting to go to 9 conference games. It's the other schools that are preventing it.

But Texas A&M is upgrading with Jimbo Fisher. Arkansas is upgrading with Chad Morris

Florida just upgraded to the OC that gave them two NCs in his four years. The greatest four year run in it's history. UGA recently upgraded to the guy who I have stated on several occasions is creating the next great SEC run.

Your argument is invalid.

I think that's the crazy one that I like and makes sense. Essentially something like no divisions, 3 permanent rivals (UGA's would be UF, AU, SC) to keep the historical rivals intact, then rotate the other 5 conference games. You'd keep 8 SEC games and you'd play each team in the league home/away something like every 5 years or something.

The only thing I can't remember is what you'd do about the SECCG with no divisions, I supposed you'd just take the top 2 teams but I dont' like that. I mean think about an iron bowl between undefeated teams, then they play again literally the next week for the title. That doesn't sit well.

You're close... the thing is, there *are* 2 divisions, but they are different in even and odd years. You will still play your entire division of 7 teams, but in odd years, that division will be slightly different than in even years... but it functionally wouldn't be any different than what we have now in regards to determining who goes to the SECCG.

I think it took 3 votes, maybe 4. Bama stated why they were against it and convinced UT to go along. Flip those 2 voted and AU would have been in the east

Link that.

Going to 9 games does nothing to address imbalance, nor does it meaningfully impact schools ability to play the entire conference. The roommate switch *does*. For those that don't like it, what is it that you dislike? Legitimately curious... because it's the most forward thinking approach to scheduling until such time as we shift to separating out 4 16 team pods across the FBS...

Im all for rebalancing to make it even.

I think you start in the middle tho. Leave the historic top finishers alone.

Get rid of east and west
A............... B.
Alabama.....UGA
Auburn.......Florida
aTM...........LSU
Arkansas....USC
Tenn..........Ole Miss
Vandy........Kentucky
Mizzou.......Miss St

Keep auburn/UGA and LSU/aTm crossovers

Re-align every 10 years from the middle if necessary

Move Auburn to the East

I'm down for it as long as we get to drop LSU from permanent rotation (UGA, BAMA, UF, UT are enough to play every season).

Here’s my take:

Mizzou stays in the East

Auburn stays in the West

And nothing changes
