The SEC Should Seriously Consider Kicking LSU Out

At what point does a school become more of a liability to the SEC than it's worth? I think LSU is getting dangerously close to that point if it hasn't reached it already. Before the inevitable LSU fan asks, "What exactly did LSU do wrong?" I'll explain it.
LSU attempted to bring former NFL players back into college football despite SEC rules prohibiting it. When the conference objected, the dispute ended up in federal court. Just yesterday, the SEC opposed LSU's attempt to have the lawsuit dismissed, raising concerns about institutional control and the conference's authority to enforce its rules.
Now we're seeing eligibility questions involving LSU basketball as well. At some point, you have to wonder what LSU thinks conference membership actually means.
The SEC is an association of universities that agree to follow common rules. If LSU doesn't like those rules, it can work to change them. But it can't expect the other fifteen schools to operate under one set of standards while LSU operates under another.
And I find it interesting that LSU fans keep asking what their school did wrong as though the SEC decided to sue one of its founding members for no reason. Read the lawsuit. You don't have to agree with the SEC to understand why this is a serious issue.
This isn't about whether NCAA eligibility rules are fair. It's about whether a conference has the authority to enforce its own rules. If it doesn't, what's the point of having a conference? I'd say the same thing if Alabama were doing this.
If LSU continues challenging the authority of the conference it voluntarily belongs to, perhaps the other members should reconsider whether LSU belongs at all.
The SEC doesn't need LSU nearly as much as LSU needs the SEC. I think a lot of LSU fans have convinced themselves otherwise. Being a founding member doesn't give LSU the right to play by a different set of rules.

Couldn’t agree more.
No way LSU gets a fair shake in this conference short of firing Kiffin and Wade.
F the SEC.

When are we going to stop with this dumb shite?

Excuse me, someone needs to lay this out for you:
Saban in no longer your coach, therefore he no longer runs the conference as he once did. Millions and millions were tired of hearing about Rammer Jammer football 24/7/365, and now that that's ended some UA fans just can't accept it. Besides, the majority of Bama fans do NOT want LSU gone. Your team has 3 more losses coming at least...............worry about that for a bit.

Please stop with this inane nonsense. LSU hasn’t broken any rules or laws. Go back and sit the frick down.

Some of you are missing the point. This isn't about Alabama versus LSU or whether another school has played an ineligible player. If Alabama were challenging the SEC's authority in federal court, I'd make the same argument.
Nobody is saying LSU should be kicked out tomorrow. But at some point, a conference has to decide whether a member is worth the trouble.
The fact that the SEC even considered expulsion should tell you this is more serious than the usual eligibility dispute.
And so far, all I'm seeing is whataboutism rather than anyone addressing the actual issue.

You sound like just as much of a vagina as Sankey is.

What does Saban, Alabama's record, or how many games Alabama might lose have to do with LSU's legal dispute with the SEC?
You're arguing against something I never said. This isn't about Alabama controlling the conference. It's about whether the SEC has the authority to enforce rules its members agreed to follow.
If Alabama were doing the same thing, I'd have the same position. You managed to write an entire paragraph without addressing a single point I made.

I hope the SEC kicks LSU out with no actual violations broken.
LSU will sue for so much money the NIL fund will be maxed out for a decades.

The LSU culture is an odd one, all other 15 member institutions and the head office are wrong in their mind....

Then LSU should have no trouble making its case in court. The SEC suing one of its own members is no small matter and it's fair for them to question whether that relationship is still worth maintaining.

Should consider? Where have you been?

There shouldn’t a court case. Tell me why this is still a thing?
What grounds does the SEC have in a lawsuit?

LSU fans don't want to admit it...but...
The SEC is working towards that goal right now. Part of their reason cited for wanting to keep the lawsuit going was this:
Defendants’ complete lack of institutional control over LSU’s athletic programs, their ongoing defiance of the Conference’s Professionalism Rules, and the very real threat... that Defendants will interfere with any effort to terminate LSU’s membership in the Conference.

How many times does this need to be explained? The SEC is asserting its First Amendment right of association, alleging LSU lacks institutional control and challenging LSU's continued defiance of conference eligibility rules.
It's also seeking to protect its authority to terminate membership without interference. Those are the legal grounds. Whether the court agrees is another matter.
You can disagree with the SEC's position, but continuing to ask what grounds it has when they've been spelled out repeatedly is getting ridiculous.
