The SEC made an interesting statement in its filings against LSU

The SEC’s Professionalism Rules
33. Both the NCAA and the SEC have long maintained rules that prohibit individuals who have entered a professional draft, signed professional contracts, or been rostered on a professional athletics team from competing in college athletics.
Among those rules is NCAA Bylaw 12.2.4, which provides that a student-athlete “shall not enter into any kind of agreement to compete in professional athletics, either orally or in writing, regardless of the legal enforceability of that agreement.” This NCAA Bylaw is incorporated by reference and is effective as an SEC Bylaw pursuant to SEC Bylaw 14.01.1. See Exhibit A.
It's rather interesting that the conference is asserting that Lane/LSU violated SEC bylaws, by way of violating NCAA bylaws, prior to their "special rule" ever being created. That would indicate that Bediako committed the exact same violation, in a case where the conference did nothing but issue an affidavit.
I think the conference will have to decide whether it's going to actually enforce NCAA bylaws by way of their own bylaws, or not.
They seem to be picking and choosing when they do it.

We've gone over this.
That also means Chambliss is currently in violation of SEC rules as they adhere to NCAA eligibility rules.
No one wants to talk about that.

Like this from the hearing
quote:
Then judge said "I get what you're trying to ask and I see that he is not going to answer, but I understand his answer. He is going to follow the rules and the bylaws until the point that he is not going to follow them anymore"

This is rather silly and simple. Things change. The SEC continually saw the NCAA doesn't have any power to enforce it's rules and would not really challenge court rulings.
The SEC finally took matters into its own hands. You wanted to break the NCAA rules. Once you saw the SEC was gonna do this, you should have stopped (I mean you did anyway eventually right?) but you continued on acting as if you were gonna do it and challenge the SEC in court. Gonna pay a price for that.

At this point, we need to go full scorched earth on the entire league's admin here. What other conference has the conference's admin pushing back against the teams in the conference?

What LSU fans don't want to talk about is what made them a target and what the differences between them were.

It would appear that the SEC is making some of the same mistakes the NCAA encountered, as far as selective enforcement go.
They will suffer the same fate, ultimately.

Respectfully, this a dumb statement on many counts.

thats interesting. based on that wording then, how on earth have former minor league baseball players been eligible to play SEC football? the wording isnt specific to any sport, it just says professional athletics team. it also doesnt specify a domestic or international team.
we can poke holes in this all day

Interesting.
I really wish LSU would sue Sankey and the SEC.
This needs to be dealt with.

We get it. You've stated your opinion multiple times. You're allowed to be wrong. I don't fault you.

Again, stop bringing up the Alabama situation. Alabama wasn't involved in that. Lane Kiffin drug LSU into this. It's entirely different. And yes, I would imagine that recruiting people to sue your employer (in a sense) is going to run afoul of their "professionalism" policies.

Likely why they felt the need to clarify and create amendments. But they had to have something on Kiffin since he didn't actually break the "new rule", so they went with the old one.

That's your opinion, you're allowed to be wrong. Perhaps you and Boom33 can commiserate and be wrong together.

I know the differences and can discuss both in a vacuum without comparing. Chambliss got a TRO to protect him from NCAA and SEC rules. He is in active violation of those eligibility rules. I've seen several Ole Miss fans on here accept the fact that at a later date the NCAA might vacate wins.
LSU nor any of its players violated any rules, but I know what made us a target.
