Bad coaching hires and bad QB play. Look at 2012 when it was arguably it strongest. AJ, Mett, Shaw, Maziel, Murray, Wallace, Wilson, and even Bray and Russell were all decent to great QBs

the SEC's run has reenergized the other conferences and has given them more determination to move forward. they are paying for better coaches now and are upgrading facilities, etc. the same stuff the SEC did to get ahead. their TV money is as good as the SEC's (at least the Big 10's is) or close enough to allow these teams to join the arms race.
contrary to the opinion of many SEC fans, football is good outside of the south too. not to be a racist, but it's a fact that white boys can play football also. ask any NFL player. yes should not be an issue, but in the south many people assume that all white people can't play football at the highest level.
so the SEC's stranglehold on the "best" has finally been broken. but each year will be different and the SEC will still bethe best in some years.

Because the SEC East is an embarrassment.

I think this is a paradigm shift everywhere and at all levels of football. It's a different game today.

Late 90s early to Mid 2000s the Eastside was great winning multiple BCS titles. This is no shot at Ole Miss but you guys have failed to pick up the mantle, despite the talent you guys have. Top teams will have down years but outside of the Florida,Alabama,Auburn,LSU, Tennessee who else really done anything in the Sec the last 20 years?

It's not the best this year and it's because the QB play is unfathomably pathetic.

I think it's a few factors-
The US population is growing exponentially, so there are more high quality players available and the 85 scholorship rule promotes parady to those who don't oversign.
Top coaches are seeking out or staying in easier conferences because they offer an easier path to the playoffs than the sec
The spread option offense is a talent equalizer

Pretty darn reasonable opinion.

2012 maybe overall, but the west in 2010 was the best division I've ever seen.

East needs to get better. Programs like Florida, Georgia, and Tenn can't all be average. And this year the others in the East haven't stepped up to have banner years. If you had 2 or so very good teams in the East the SEC would be stacked. I think Tenn are on their way.
West should never be 12-2 against the East.

The East just sucks. And the string of new coaches that were hired doesn't give me hope that improvement is right around the corner.
