And probably won’t this year. The SEC is just too tough to get through and have to play a conference championship and multiple playoff games. Miami won’t play anyone of substance until the playoffs. Same with notre dame. Other than each other. Nebraska and Oklahoma made careers out of only playing each other and then their bowl game.

So some say Miami won’t play anyone of substance until the playoffs and then when they blow thru those teams with substance they don’t get the credit. And then all these comments using polls as any measuring stick are just funny. The polls are nothing but opinion and gossip. Saying you beat 6 ranked teams and then getting your butt kicked in the playoffs pretty much invalidates those rankings.
So many posters believe in the tooth fairy, aka the polls, and then your brain short circuits when the rankings don’t hold water in the playoffs. It’s why no other serious sport uses rankings for anything.
Polls are a meaningless measure of anything. Just because SEC teams get ranked every week doesn’t mean a thing. The SEC is propped up by the media. When they actually have to play the games in December and January we’ve already see that the SEC has been shown to be a paper tiger. The SEC hasn’t won 1 playoff game in the past 3 years.

The bcs era 98-2013(strongest era of sec football) the sec won nine out of 16 nattys, over half. I’m not sure history backs this theory up. Even in a sec bubble(div years) the west dominated the east in seccg during the saban era(west was much tougher) and the east dominated the spurrier/fulmer era(east was tougher)
