The gap is huge. And it's not just Alabama who is elite.

Many people think Texas A&M is probably better than Alabama right now. They proved they could win in Tuscaloosa, too.

LSU probably should've beaten Alabama, that prevent defense on the last drive killed them

Georgia was 5 yards away from beating Alabama.

South Carolina with Lattimore could matchup with Bama, LSU, A&M, Florida, Georgia, etc. They beat Georgia 35-7 earlier in the year.

There's a long ways to go. There are now only a select few teams in the country who have the coaching and ability to recruit like these SEC teams do to catch up to them

Michigan - Hoke is quietly assembling a Monster, IMO. Excellent recruiting and great coaches.
Ohio State - Urban is arguably the best recruiter in the country and has won 2 championships
Notre Dame - Kelly is recruiting phenomenally and his teams will be much more talented in the coming years.
Oregon - Chip kelly staying will continue the ducks' run and they'll continue to roll in better and better recruits.

IMO, it will be one of these teams that eventually knock off the SEC. Notre Dame, Michigan, and Ohio State are farther off from Oregon but I think they have the potential to surpass them the way they are recruiting.

I would put Texas and Florida State in the conversation but I don't think they currently have the coaching to come close to competing with the big boys.

Urban Myer and Ohio State will end the streak eventually. He is the only coach that has proven he can beat the top teams in the SEC.

oregon has a shot but they have been whipped up front the last 2 times. however they have now won 2 straight bcs bowls so they are showing they can produce some offense even when teams have a month to game plan.

the others are laughable, b. kelly just got bitch slapped up and down the field and his heisman linebacker wanted no part of the sec

South Carolina with Lattimore

it's time to stop saying this like he was our whole team. No doubt we were better with him(who wouldn't want a Lattimore?) but we have proven that we still win without him.

srsly

I could see Oregon taking out someone from the East if they manage to get one by the West.

urban will have some more chest pains if he goes up against saban. If urban gets lucky and another sec team is in the bcs game then maybe he wins but not against saban

They've gotten a lot better since they played LSU and I think they'd be a 1 or 2 point favorite against bama on a neutral field.

Against LSU again they'd be a 7-10 point favorite.

Don't have anything to do with LSU, I just don't think they are better than Bama.

I agree. IMHO Bama lost that game because they were drained and beat up from the game with us. Cudos to A&M for a great season and curb stomping OU, but they aren't there yet.

I don't see how we would be favored against Bama. I'd expect that they would be like a 2-3.5 pt favorite.

I could see Ohio State or Oregon ruining the streak against a team like Alabama, LSU, or Florida. Some of the other teams you listed could take down a team like Georgia, South Carolina, Auburn (again) or Arkansas(I know I'm reaching here) if they somehow makes it to the national championship game because I don't feel like the talent gap between the teams would be large.

It won't be the Big 10 or Big 12. Big 10 recruiting isn't good enough (maybe Nebraska if they their coaches step it up a notch). The Big 12 is a joke of a conference. I don't see the PAC 12 doing it. Oregon is a better version of a lot of the Big 12 teams, and that style of football doesn't do well against the SEC. Stanford is basically an SEC team without SEC talent.

I think it's either a dark horse or luck. SEC plays itself out of the championship like it almost did this year.

tOSU and Oregon are the only legit threats right now.

In the SEC, I don't want nothing to do with the Cocks, UGA, or Vandy(gulp).

Also, the X-factors in the SEC in no particular order:
- Bret Bielema
- Ole Miss progress (they got better as the year went on)
- Gus Malzahn
- Mark Stoops
- Missouri's injury situation
- SEC Defensive adjustments to JFF
- LSU's reload

Exactly and I'm not saying they were beat up just because I'm an LSU fan. They were involved in an all out war the week before. But even putting that aside, I just don't buy them just because of that one win

No need to turn this thread into a flame fest...there are plenty of those threads around.
