I do know it's all political bs, and the SEC has more to say about how it turns out than anyone

SPURrier's first year at Florida they were denied the conference championship ... BHam piled on and set precedent. That was a helluva team too.
1990 when Spurrier went 9-2? While Colorado (11-1-1) & GaTech (11-0) split the NC.

whether or not mizzou wins the east is one thing. what is notable is that we're talking about this at all given the vast disparity in recruiting rankings. I remember having a discussion with some hog fans after we kicked their asses again last year about how they'd beat us soon b/c Morris was outrecruiting Odom even with a shitty team. Mizzou's staff going back to Pinkel's time has never gotten enough credit for finding diamonds in the rough and coaching them up.

if we finished atop the east standings the second place team would go to the championship game. doesn't mean the games didn't happen.

That's now how it works in the SEC. See 93 Auburn and 02 Alabama.

well i don't really give a shite what the SEC calls it, the team that finishes atop the standings won the division.

So why don't 93 Auburn and 02 Alabama have SEC West trophies?

presumably because the SEC didn't give them trophies. which is about as relevant as the title.

in 1960 Mizzou was undefeated and ranked number 1 in the country and lost to a KU team that was later found to have gotten 2 touchdowns from an ineligible player and so their victory was voided. That doesn't mean we won the game. What happened, happened. You can't change that with declarations or trophies.

So then we have 3 more SEC titles using your logic. Can't have it both ways.

i can't think of any reason why i'd care how many SEC titles you have.

though there is a distinction. to win the SEC title you have to win the SEC title game. you can't win the sec title game if you don't play in it. so if our postseason ban is upheld we can't win the SEC title no matter what. We can still win the east, though. idk about you but i care much more about what happens on the field between the players than what the bureaucrats decide to declare happened.

This was before the SECCG though (84, 95, 90).

No, you can't. Here you go. Page 12, 2002. Look at where Alabama is.

you're arguing semantics. idgaf who the conference declares the winner at the end of the season. it's the same reason that the NCAA retroactively revoking championships is dumb af.
