The way they do it makes the least sense.

Option 1 would be best:

Highest seed always is home team. Those teams earned it.

Option 2

Undefeated team hosts the regional final games even if they are the lower seed. This could still have the real home team operating as the visitor, but at least the non host would have earned the right in some way.

That’s not how double elimination tournaments work. I have no issue with it.

It is so every team can get the "last at bat" in the 9th. It's fair and really changes nothing. The team is still home, they just bat at the top of the 9th instead.

No issue with current format. Have the home field advantage with crowd regardless.

Don’t let your period cloud your thinking.

If you fail to secure your regional at home then you have far greater issues than not batting last and you weren't going to win in Omaha anyways.

at a minimum the home team should be in their own dugout every game, despite whether they bat 1st or not

That I agree with.

Maybe I’m weird but I hate seeing the home team in the visitors dugout.

MOT, you following me over here now?

How is it “fair”?

OP is getting downvoted, but I agree with him.

You earn higher seeds through the season. Batting last is an advantage that should come with that.

“Fair” sound very “participation trophy”.

Batting first could offer some benefit in a tournament format if you open up a big lead in the first inning then you might change your pitching philosophy.

This isn't little league. They seed this thing for a reason. It's dumb.

I'd totally understand if this was some in season tournament, but they're just making an already unpredictable sport even moreso. Baseball really isn't meant for one and done type stuff. It really should be played in a series. I get that it's almost impossible to do at the college level, but letting a three and four seed get the last at bat just cause is stupid.
