My personal experience with OU fans is mostly t-shirt fans who get obnoxiously drunk and yell BOOMER at local sportsbars. I am not sure I've ever met anyone in western Arkansas who actually attended the University of Oklahoma.

Fort Smith is an Old West town. It would fit into Oklahoma or Texas more than it would any deep south state. There are worse places to be from.

So, do you see more additions to the conference?

Texas A&M is an elite brand in its own right. National appeal. A massive, rabid, loyal fan base (IMO the best in college sports). A top 10 brand without question, arguably top 5 since joining the SEC
Outside of this utter nonsense especially top 5 brand absurdity, which must have been brought by an eight day meth binge, your post was actually pretty good.
No way Tam is close to a top 5 brand nor in the top 10 but I'd say from maybe a highest of 12 to maybe 17 for the lowest.

To suggest that this somehow makes the SEC culturally better demonstrates the arrogance of the "Texases" of the world that most of us wish to avoid.
There no evidence he's from Texas so your reply is ignorant. He replied as a fan of elsewhere acknowledging the fact Texas adds value in every way including culture.
Like it or not, Texas is one of the greatest places in the world assuming one doesn't want hills, mountains or four season weather.
Certainly I'm including the University of Texas liberal propaganda machine nor its warped woke vomit as any cultural heritage in need of being duplicated...but instead destroyed.

Idiots are looking at this from a single school's fan perspective (that are posting on message boards). The fact that the SEC was able to get the 2 remaining blue bloods (other than ND) that are left, means every other conference is permanently locked out of the southeast. Say what you want, but there is a divide coming, and the more value you have the more you will be able to throw around your weight in the coming years. The SEC just put up a wall around the majority of the talent in the country.

Working in Huntsville, Al in the tech industry I see very few UTexas graduates. My cousins are Texas-Exs and even they admit that outside of Texas it is just another degree.

You are just talking about SEC games, the SEC games are highly rated. As it stands now, UTexas games are not highly watched outside of Texas.

Plus, and perhaps most importantly, it gives the SEC a monopoly in the most fertile recruiting territory in the land. That would be the state of Texas.
You have a sense of humor. Florida is the correct answer. I will put it like this, how many NC in college football has the entire state of Texas produced since 1970?

In what, Olympic sports? Trust me, if that is the best you can do, you will not be happy in the SEC. You can print the shirts about those titles, but you best get use to being laughed at, Texas's last 2 NC in football are 1970, and 2005.

How many NC have the four new schools won in the last 25 years? I know of only 2 in football, none in basketball, 2 in baseball (SEC has won 7 NC in baseball since 2009)
Arkansas won a natty in basketball. And about a billion in various forms of track.
4 new schools, Texas, Texas Am, Oklahoma, Missouri
Arkansas and USCe have been here for almost 30 years

I don't understand why a Texas grad would want to move to Alabama. I agree that it's just another degree when you're out of state, so why move out of state...Texas has many cities with more opportunities than Huntsville.

Who the frick are you to tell me what I can and can't enjoy?
If Ewers is as good as advertised you'll be going against the #1 offense next year in Austin so we'll have a shot to knock y'all off.

Frankly, I think the refusal to expand the college football playoff is an indicator of what's to come - as well as how the Big Ten attempted to lead a shutdown of football a couple years ago. I honestly give it a better than fifty / fifty shot that the college football playoff ends after this contract.

The SEC was winning national titles in almost all sports and so expanding west (or east) really did not matter
What it did do is put 2 (now 4) more schools at the money plate. I will agree that there will be more money in that plate, but the SEC was doing alright with the amount they were getting before.
How many NC have the four new schools won in the last 25 years? I know of only 2 in football, none in basketball, 2 in baseball (SEC has won 7 NC in baseball since 2009)
I don't know about 8&4 or Mizzou, but OU and Texass have 20 NCAA championships EACH since 2000, I am not sure you could pick any 2 schools currently in the SEC that have combined for 40 titles since 2000.
Posted on 3/16/22 at 7:39 am to zounami
I can buy the argument that A&M, OU, and TX add something, but Mizzou brings absolutely nothing to the SEC athletically.

And nobody’s printing shirts. The post I replied to said “they bring nothing”, which is empirically false. Don’t be pissy that I proved you wrong. If you don’t like those other sports, fine. That’s your own prerogative. I’d rather be good at them than no, though

It put the SEC ahead of the PAC, ahead of the B1G, and ahead of the current "Big 12".

Go back to playing Kansas.

South Carolina has won 3 (about to be 4) since joining the SEC. Two in baseball and one (will be 2) in WBB.

Tell me you know nothing about Huntsville Alabama without telling me you know nothing about Huntsville Alabama.
There is a reason why the Space Command is moving to Huntsville and that one of the world's largest Research Parks is in Huntsville (I think it is the largest in the US.)

Before kickoff, maybe, after Kickoff Texas will be down 21 points in the 1st quarter
Alabama 48, Texas 14 (maybe not even that)
