Every Florida fan is stuck in 2005 when it comes to everything football. They still think anything other than NIL and playing time are more important when players are choosing schools. The giveaway is when yall talk about stadium size and 20 year old titles as if they matter to kids who weren’t born yet.

In the NIL era Ole Miss has done a better job than Florida organizing and managing players, and taking advantage of the current rules. That’s really hard for the 2005 mind to grasp, but that’s why Florida is about to fire their coach and Ole Miss isn’t.

Billy is about to get fired because he is a terrible coach and refused to hire an offensive coordinator. We have as much or more talent than all but a handful of teams in college football right now. He was given everything he asked for and more. It’s his fault he’s getting fired, not Florida’s.

UF was better than Ole Miss the 30 years before Spurrier. It’s been better than Ole Miss the 15 years since Urban. I break it down pretty good in my last post on this thread a couple pages back.

You guys are doing good because of Lane. You know what would tell us if Ole Miss has taken a jump as a program? If Lane left and Ole Miss maintained that success. I sincerely doubt that will happen. You guys will most likely go back to the bottom of the conference.

If you cut it off before Spurrier (pre-1990), it’s Ole Miss by a clear margin.
• SEC titles: Ole Miss had 6 (’47, ’54, ’55, ’60, ’62, ’63). Florida had 0 official pre-1990 (their 1984 title was later vacated). ?
• National titles (selectors): Ole Miss claims 3 (’59, ’60, ’62). Notably, the FWAA awarded the 1960 national championship to Mississippi; some selectors also list Ole Miss in 1962. Florida had none before 1990. ?
• Era dominance: Under Johnny Vaught, Ole Miss played in 15 straight bowls (1957–71) and was a top-program fixture of the ’50s/’60s. ?
• Florida’s best pre-Spurrier blips: strong AP finishes in 1984 (#3) and 1985 (#5)—but no official SECs or national titles. ?

Bottom line: Prior to 1990, Ole Miss owns the stronger résumé on championships and sustained prominence. Florida’s big hardware arrives after Spurrier.

Ole Miss fans have been crapping on UF fans saying we live in 2005 this whole thread. And then an Ole Miss fan starts talking about 1960-64…

Yuuup. Lane will leave Oxford at some point, I don't think that's a controversial statement to make, but I would be absolutely shocked if he left for Florida.

Me personally, I'd have given a lot for State to have half the football story that Florida has had, but the cold hard truth is that Florida has simply reverted back the mean: Outside of Spurrier and Urban, they're pretty much on course for the norm.

And everyone keeps talking about Kiff loving Florida. I don't think we're talking about the same Florida when it comes to his geographic preferences there. Gainesville ain't exactly the same Florida we go to vacation at, nor the one Lane Kiffin does either.

You didn’t say that Florida was better 30 years before Spurrier arrived?

I looked at the total wins and losses for that period, just like i looked at the total wins and losses for the period after Urban. UF had better records during both periods.

But if it makes you feel better you are right. Ole Miss was better from 1960-1963.

Total wins and losses don’t tell the whole tale.

When was Ole Miss's last SEC title and national title again? The 60s? We have very many more since their last..When AC became easily available and affordable, UM, FSU, and Florida all got very good

None of it is organized, which takes time. Having $40 mil "available" for a roster is very different than it being liquid, ready to go, and the organization has the admin side up and running to spend it on player acquisition.

Plus, wasn't one of your larger boosters indicted for fraud just earlier this week ..?

Most college towns are not good for vacations. Usually the town centers around the Univerity and is in a "college town"

Not all are, but most.

We’ve seen Lane grow up at Ole MIss…Tremendous Coach. I hope he’ll stay there and win them a championship. Roll Tide.

He may well leave for Florida. I still think he ends up at Bama at some point.

If/when he leaves we'll be in a much better spot than how he found us

If he does not want the UF job it sounds right. Alabama is a very, very top tier job in CFB.

IMO lane stays at ole miss until his daughter graduates.

Then he may leave but I doubt he does before that. But he is 50 now

Older than most realize.
