The problem with paying Jimbo $7 million a year

Some people say that Jimbo isn’t worth $7 million a year, and I have to agree. Those people are completely correct. 100%. I will admit it.
A contract like that is a huge commitment, and needs to be in line with what we see in the market.
If Sumlin, who never won a national title anywhere, made $5 million a year at A&M, and Charlie Strong made $5 million a year to sink Texas, or Gundy is worth $8 million a year to Tennessee, then how the frick is Jimbo worth only $7 million dollars a year? It’s crazy.
I hope we sober up and offer him $9 or even $10 million a year before he does the math and takes offense with us lowballing him.

It's not your money, so who cares.

He's not coming. Countless LSU sources have vociferously said so.

Oh, he will be in College Station soon. I for one wish you guys success. You guys are setting yourselves up HARD though for one of two scenarios-
A: You get Sextoned. I doubt it, this looks/smells legit, but the guy is a legend. Also Jimbo is his favorite pawn.
B: You hire Jimbo, and don't get immediate success in year 1 or 2.
Either way, the rant points and laughs.
Of course, he could bring you guys a Natty too, but the above are also distinct possibilities.

Jimbo’s recruiting ability alone makes him worth the money. No matter his coaching ability, it’s a splash hire and shows A&M has a commitment to bring a top quality coach (at least in name) and is willing to pay for it.
LSU’s AD went to the bargain bin and shoved the hire down the fan’s throats. A&M’s AD>>>>>>>>Alleva

You say this, then this:

Coach O has long been considered one of the greatest recruiters out there.

I’m aware that he’s ‘considered’ a great recruiter.
How’s our class stacking up right about now?

Here it comes. There will soon be a post complaining about us bragging about how much money we have (but then forget about the millions of Texas eyeballs adding to SECN revenue).
Frick 'em. We have a LOT of money, and that's at $50/bbl. Wait until it gets back to $100.

LSU's ties to the oil industry are just as strong as A&M's.
A&M's alumni base is even more diversified than LSU's.
The price of oil per barrel would help LSU just as much as Aggy.
