The original member schools of the Southeastern Conference, which began play in 1933, were Alabama, Auburn (then Alabama Polytechnic Institute), Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisiana State, Mississippi, Mississippi State (then Mississippi A&M), Sewanee, Tennessee, Tulane and Vanderbilt.

Let’s take these original teams and start its own conference and say hell with everyone else. Since Sewanee isn’t an option, replace them with USC and be done with it.

That wasn’t any fun. So I figured I would try my luck on here.

Bring back Tulane so the Tigers can have their natural In-State rival to close the season with!

We need to aggregate all of this shite onto two new boards:

1. Conference Realignment Board

2. Get Off My Lawn / I Want It To be 1990 Again Board

The original SEC is gone. So is the big 8 big 19 SWC you name it. All gone. We all have to come to grips with the future of college sports. It’s sad.

What caused the split, because several of these teams were in the SoCon prior right? I know SC stayed in the soCon.

so while SC wasnt an original member, we were in a conference with a lot of yall prior to the SEC

Tobacco Road caused the split.

UNC, Wake Forest, UVA caused the split ... notsomuch Duke and NC State at the time.

It started with travel issues, then a major recruiting fallout then it turned into allowing blacks into the league and then it turned into a money thing. At the time UNC, Wake and UVA were wealthy ... and they were also holier than thou (which they still are) and they also controlled the SoCon (they still control the ACC) ... thus the split.

I used to hear the stories growing up and then those stories were rehashed, en masse, when SC broke away from the ACC twenty years later when I was a young man.

Tobacco Road is getting exactly what it deserves ... finally.

Tobacco Road is in real trouble right now. They'll last a while longer but they are about to become a shell of what they believe themselves to-be.

They are about to get their comeuppance. It's just a matter of time now.

which is why I am so against letting UNC in. Id let Clemson in before UNC.
