So, my head is in the sand because I link an article where the NCAA president said that under the NCAA rules there wasn't enough evidence to say AU or Cam were guilty of any wrongdoing and Cam is eligible to play?
No your head is in the sand because you keep denying that Cam knew what was going on with Cecil (you know the truth but just dont want to admit it). Why would Cam tell Sports Illustrated in an interview that Cecil made the decision to go to Auburn then several weeks later tell Cris Fowler that the decision was his alone. It's called back tracking and it smells.

It still blows my mind that AU fans sidestep the fact that it doesn't matter if Cam knew or not according to the rules. Auburn got away with one this time and they know it. Tainted season is tainted.

quote:I never denied that he knew. I don't know one way or the other. I think it is perfectly reasonable to be skeptical about his knowledge of the situation. It is also plausible that Cecil knew he was doing something wrong and intentionally shielded his son from having any knowledge. I am sure the NCAA has investigated what Cam knew and when. Do they know the truth? Nobody but Cam knows for sure.

What you or I believe doesn't really matter and I am over arguing about the facts as we think they might be. I was just posting a link to a new article where the NCAA president spoke about it. From his comments, one could reasonably infer, if they couldn't before now, that, unless the NCAA learns something new, the Cam saga is over.
I don't think my head is in the sand, but there are plenty of posters here with their heads in the sky (see ATPB thread).

Fat fingers and iPhone keep screwing me up. Referring to the ruling that Cam didn't know. The rule stated if a representative of a player asked for money not if the player was aware then he is rules ineligible. Past rebuttals from Auburnfans has been so if a long lost uncle asks for money the player should be ruled ineligible. All I am saying is this isn't a distant relative it was his dad; they are obviously close or where reportedly close enogh the boy let his daddy decide his school of choice so the likelyhood that Cam didn't know doesn't hold water besides as I said before thatt was not specified in the rule before. Auburnknew what he had done(Cecil) the NCAA and the sec knew and chose to ignore the rule. I am just saying since yall are starting threads trying to change peopes mind and opinion hence still arguing this to not xpect us to believe this fairy tale. Yall pushed the envelope rolled the dice and got away with it. I accepted that along time ago just don't try to get us to believe this is all. They didn't need to change the rule it was already in place they created a loophole for money when one didn't exist to begin with.

I accept that in the strict interpretation of the bylaws Cam may be innocent. It is was it is. Let him play and if nothing further comes from any ongoing investigations then move on from it. In legal terms for now he escaped through a loophole. For lawyers (and Auburn) that's an acceptable victory, but for the honest hard working everyday man it's BS. I would just like for more AU people to admit that they got by on a technicality.

The day auburn gets nailed. That will be one of the greatest days ever.

Who the hell actually believes that Cam didn't know anything other than Auburn fans?
So far, the NCAA, the SEC, and the AU Compliance staff.

Good point. As WDE24 pointed out Cam is of legal adult age. If an adult is going to make a concious decision to leave his decision solely up to a representative (in this case his father) then shouldnt that "adult" accept the risk and consequenses if said person representes him poorly.

quote:Maybe they did. For me personally, even if this were any other school (except for maybe Bama), I think that as long as no money ever changed hands and AU was not involved with Cecil's shadiness, then I don't see why AU or Cam, who appears to have been a pawn used by his dad (with or without his knowledge), should be punished. If no one got paid and AU was not involved, then no harm no foul.
I would just like for more AU people to admit that they got by on a technicality.
Again, I am past all of that at this point. People have taken their positions and they are unlikely to change from where they are now. What matters to me at this point is what, if anything, happens in the future as a result of the controversy.

Maybe because Auburn hasn't won a football National Title since the Eisenhower administration? Different story if Auburn were 8-4.
Exactly. This thing would have never seen the light of day at all and you guys wouldn't give a shite.
The fact that we are undefeated, playing for a BCS championship, AND kicked dat azz makes you guys the hugest and sorest of losers in the history of sore losers.
99.9% of you guys "standing up for the integrity of the game" is just total sore-loser bullshite.

First of all I am sure AU compliance staff has agreed with everything the Newtons lied about. Keep up though because we understand what the ruling was and it was incorrect accordng o the law n place. It doesn't matter if Cam knew, the law stated a representative asks for
money then he is ineligible. That rule was put in their specificly to prevent players from getting other people to ask
in their stead so that they could claim ignorance. The sec and Auburn chose to gnore that.

The NCAA thus far begs to disagree.

Reading through the first couple of pages of fricken' barners has made me realize that I (and anyone else for that matter) has every right in the world to punch the next Auburn fan that whines about "everyone hates Auburn" or "conspiracy against Auburn" or any crap like that right in the throat be it a man or a woman. Well, maybe not a woman, but I'll find some chick that'll do it for me.

Last year most on year (except for AU fans) pulled for Bama. Most pulled for Florida the year before. I guess it just so happens that the one year that most don't pull for the SEC champ is because there are alot of allegations regarding pay for play...but I'm sure that's just a coincidence.

Maybe you guys ought to try to get ahead by more than 24 points next year and you won't menstruate so heavily.
