Posters on this board are constantly crowing about how many SEC teams hosted, and then with their next breath will claim that Texas baseball will tank due to the competition in the SEC. Some of these people are unhinged.
If anything, moving to the SEC is going to make our program better due to the fact that the best players want to play in the best league. Same for coaches.

The issue is not with Utx (the school) but their fans who have a sense of arrogance and entitlement matched only by BuckNuts fans
quote:So Texas is not ready for the SEC because they don't have as many championships as an entire 14-team conference combined?
CWS with ESPN (1979 - 2023) || ZERO B1G while ACC and SEC in force
(14) SE = UGA 90' + LSU 91', 93', 96', 97', 00', 09' + SC 10', 11' + VU 14', 19' + UF 17' + State 21' + Rebs 22'
(5) ACC = "U" 82', 85', 99', 01 + UVA 15'
(3) Utx = 83', 02', 05
Also - since Texas hasn't been in the SEC, wouldn't that mean they're more likely to go through SEC teams in order to reach Omaha those years? They specifically avoid putting teams from the same conference in the same regional. So wouldn't Texas likely have to go through the vaunted "meat grinder of the SEC" more than SEC teams in that circumstance?
I have never seen a poster with no affiliation to any team (unless it's Columbia) have such a raging hate hard-on for Texas

Utx was good in the pre ESPN era, but back then so was the B1G and nobody talks about B1G in a generation or two. There has been a swing in the ESPN era as the ACC and SEC have come to dominate as conferences while Utx has been a big fish in the B12.
Since 1980 in the ESPN era..
LSU
18 CWS appearances (40-27)
6 Champs 91, 93, 96, 97, 00, 09
1 2nd Place 17
3 3rd Place 89, 90, 98
1 4th Place 87
3 5th Place
4 7th Place
(average 2.22 W - 1.50 L)
TEXAS
20 CWS appearances (50-26)
3 Championships 83, 02, 05
6 2nd Place 84, 85, 89, 92, 04, 09
5 3rd Place 81, 87, 03, 14, 21
1 4th Place 82
1 5th Place
4 7th Place
(average 2.50 W - 1.30 L)
Conclusion
Would I rather have 6 rings since 1980? 100% yes, but it’s a lot closer than I thought it would be, and you might be surprised as well.
Top 2 finishes
Texas 9 LSU 7
Top 3 finishes
Texas 14 LSU 10
Average wins in Omaha
Texas 2.5 LSU 2.2
Texas was a solid #2 from 1950-1979 behind USC.
Texas is at worst #2 since 1980 behind LSU.
That’s a strong case for #1 all time.
Texas has finished in the Top 3 14/42 (33%) of all years in the “ESPN” era.
I do agree that it will be different being in the SEC, and we will miss the tournament some years when we suck because of that, but we wouldn’t have made Omaha in those years either way.
But Regionals and Super Regionals and Omaha won’t be all that different, and you can make the argument that it might be easier for Texas to make Omaha.

Since I’m sure “Big Brother” is feeling left out, I’ll include their stats as well.
A&M
5 CWS appearances (3-10)
1 3rd Place 22
1 5th Place 93
3 7th Place 99, 11, 17
(average 0.60 W - 2.00 L)
That’s a solid #3 in the whole nation from the teams that I have analyzed, and that last win they got in Omaha will still be talked about 100 years from now..

He was listing programs who've actually won it all.

I don't always coach college baseball, but when I do, I prefer Texas….stay hungry my friend.

Strange. This is his post:
"The New SEC Big 6 in Baseball, College World Series Appearances"
CWS Appearances
38 Texas
18 LSU
12 Florida
12 Mississippi State
11 South Carolina
11 Oklahoma

Why would Arkansas be in the Big 6? They have the same number of CWS appearances as OU/South Carolina but both programs have actually won it.

My question is going to be who does this hurt the most in the new SEC regarding now adding 2 more extremely strong baseball programs to the slate?
Adding Texas and OU will make the conference that much stronger. There is no real debate over that. The question needs to be by adding these two, who does it really impact negatively?
With the new NIL era and the willingness of Texas to spend $$, do they now become a viable option for some of these kids that stayed in the SE to play in region...
I cant wait for the new SEC baseball setup. This is going to be a meat grinder, but damn it will be fun to watch

100% agree
I’m gonna keep saying it, hoping someone important sees it and likes the idea.
3 perm
6 rotating
27 SEC games
Use the 1 extra week to play a regional round robin style for all 16 teams, 3 games guaranteed to get you to 30 total SEC games
Top 2 from each “region” advance to Week 2.. the SEC single or double elimination tournament in Hoover
Hoover Region A
R1 Winner vs R2 Runner Up
R3 Winner vs R4 Runner Up
Hoover Region B
R1 Runner Up vs R2 Winner
R3 Runner Up vs R4 Winner
Final = A Winner vs B Winner

Correct observation.
Sports are a zero sum game, for every winner there will be a looser. While folks always talk about the meat grinder of SEC football it seems women's basketball and baseball may be the two toughest sports top to bottom in the SEC. You could argue for gymnastics (not as many schools have a team but seems those that do all wind up in the Top 25).
