No statistical evidence to back it up but I have a feeling the playoffs will see 10-2 teams with top notch talent be equally successful as 12-0 teams.

In the NFL playoffs this year 5 teams are all 10-7. Even the second best teams in the divisions have 3 or 4 losses . If they keep making college like the NFL, that’s what we’re headed to.

Sorry Penn State, you're never going to win a championship. And ND, give me a break.

That is where you are wrong! Since BK left for LSU Freeman has improved Notre Dame in his third year there. BK has downgraded LSU in his third year there.

It's not about finding the path to the champion. It's about finding the path to your wallet, and how much are you willing to watch/support.

People acting like 10-7 is bad lol. The NFL playoffs in 2010 had a 7-9 division winner who won two playoff games. The Seattle Seahawks. It’s been like that for 40 years. You get a team that goes on a hot streak and tears through the schedule. If fans don’t like it, they don’t have to watch

Sounds like something someone whose team isn't in it would say.

None of the remaining teams have a NC worthy resume

If, and this is a big if, OSU beats Texas then ND, they will have beaten:

Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, Indiana, PSU and ND. 6 of the other 11 playoff teams.

How would that not be a NC worthy resume?

It would be a fantastic NC resume. But what if they don't? Why is that possibility even allowed?

LOL, illinois, you are a perfect example. Your team will never win anything important and you only exist to fill out ohio state and michigan's schedules.

It's irrelevant what old-fart fans, on a message board or anywhere else, say or think, it's going to 16 teams sooner than later because this is a made for TV show and it's about money, period.

Yep, and until the viewership reverses, it will go 16, 32, 64, etc

They should just establish a 10-game regular season, and then a 32-team playoff. And get it over with.

So 12 regular season games - and a maximum 5 playoff games?

I think the end game ... or at least it will be strongly pushed as the end game ... is that conference championship games become the victim of this new world.

Tennessee clearly wasnt as good as anyone thought. Ya got the advantageous second chance against oregon after losing to them at home when it should have mattered. Texas lost to UGA twice. Cant believe you are crediting indiana as a good win. Penn State is a perpetual little brother to ohio state and michigan. ND is a nice win, but again, they get to waltz into the playoffs with an independent schedule and then get matched up with indiana and a new starting QB UGA who still outgained them on offense.

Wasn't the whole idea of this to favor the conference champions? And now there are no conference champions left. This is clearly set up to squeeze more ratings and money out of fans and it has hurt the sport.

ND is good now because they are a wealthy school and can openly buy players with NIL. And because of the expansion they can now make the playoff every year despite losing to a team like NIU. They get to cake walk through a very weak schedule, keep their players relatively healthy by avoiding tough games, and then still get rewarded and host a playoff game even if they slip up.

Where did Carson Beck get injured? O yea, playing in the SECCG. Woulda been nice to not have to play that and still get to host a playoff game.

I sort of feel like that's the whole point.

College football isn't the NFL, and people won't watch that.

We've been conditioned to expect certain thresholds of success, and if the best teams start winning only 58% of their games, it's going to knock out a significant portion of viewership.

No one is saying it's bad in the NFL, I think they're saying they don't prefer to see that incorporated into the college model.

I'm not sure any avid fan has ever sat around and said, "You know what we need? To make college football just like the NFL."

And yet LSU was nowhere to be found, seems to be working just fine

Never said my “team” would win anything, bitch. You’re the one butt hurt about the playoff. The big difference is your “team”
Is supposed to be good. So there’s that
