in order to be eligible for D1.

Now, in order to be eligible is a high school diploma and a 2.3 GPA.

The dumbing down of America continues (sort of reminds one of what's happening here on tRant).

Sad.

So very sad.

Why do college sports need the NCAA at this point then?

To be honest, those tests are very poor predictors of academic performance.

What were the required scores? I assume pretty low already.

Had been talked about, but they did it officially yesterday.

The NCAA needs to be abolished. Conference leagues run the show, and now NIL.

D1 CFB and basketball? Probably not but
the NCAA is responsible for organizing and logistics for playoffs and championships for almost every sport throughout all divisions in member institutions. Its somewhat thankless and tedious but one of the few things they're good at.

No they aren't especially when other factors (GPA) are combined with it.

Correct. They just generate income for the test services. A lot of schools are going away from standardized test scores.

At diploma mills... sure.

At real universities? Lol. Ummm. No.

It is sad how many universities and colleges just want the tuition. Rigor is about 100th on the list of priorities.

Amateur athletics in college is dead, might as well end the facade of calling them student-athletes. Just let the schools hire professionals and play under the school name and colors. Basically what is happening now.
